That makes no sense. The entire point of these devices is to get information FROM the Internet. As an added bonus they gather information about you for marketing purposes. What would be the point of having a device that doesn't connect to the Internet? If you want local speech recognition, any laptop can do that.
Google needs to stop the free ride and take responsibility for the garbage they are spewing out. There is no excuse, they have plenty of money. They can hire many more than 10,000 if they need to and review each and every video.

Sure, it will be cool, but it is as wasteful as building an America's Cup yacht. If people spent 10% the amount of time thinking about how to improve life on Earth and they do about living on Mars we would be better off.
You can still do SIP over XMPP. It still doesn't work, smartphone or no smartphone. Go try it. There are a few SIP/XMPP combos. This isn't a new idea. There is no difference between a smartphone and a computer from 2004.
