I've love to see high speed rail in the US. But I'm afraid I won't see it in my lifetime.
1) private property - gives individual rights to the citizens. this makes it hard for the goverment to buy up choice land to build the tracks
2) weaker central government power than compared to Japan, China, France, etc.
3) airline industry - would be very threatened
4) more market oriented - government can't dictate and make things change without a push from lobbyists, citizens, etc. (ie, see that we have competing cellular technology while Europe and Japan are on 3G).
5) infrastructure - we love to drive and live in sprawl. many cities don't have extensive public transportation within the cities.
Don't forget that OS X isn't only limited to US English. It comes with every language you can think of... ie. Japanese, German, UK English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Russian, Arabic, etc. It's just a change of the International options in the System preferences.
Has anybody heard of the Bluetooth option for the 2004 Toyota Prius? Supposedly, it's for a bluetooth cell to work with the car's speakers so it's hands free. But I'm wondering if it's possible to use say a bluetooth Powerbook + iTunes to the car speakers? Perhaps it's even possible to control different car functions with bluetooth too (ie, starting up the a/c and rolling down the windows when I get within a certain distance?).
I just bought a 15" powerbook 1.25 Ghz. It cost me $2545. I figure that I paid about $200+ premium over the top 14" ($1499). If you take the 14" and add the specs to it to match the 15" I figure it would cost $830 more. Some numbers were taken from the BTO on Apple Store. Other numbers were guessed.
- 15" screen vs. 14" : $100 more (guess) - ATI 9600 vs. 9200: $50 more (guess) - FW800 vs. no FW800: $35 (guess) - Backlighted keyboard: $70 (comparing the 2 15" PB) - DVI: $25 (guess) - 1.25 Ghz vs. 1 Ghz: $75 (guess) - 512 L2 cache vs. 256: $25 (guess) - 80 GB HD vs. 60 GB: $75 (comparing the 2 15" PB) - Airport Extreme built in: $100 (comparing the 2 15" PB) - Bluetooth: $25(guess) - Superdrive vs. Combo: $200 (comparing the 2 15" PB) - 512 RAM vs 256 RAM: $50 (dealram)
I think publishers are charging too much for textbooks also. I work at an advertising company where we get many of our catalogs printed in Hong Kong now. They cost considerably less to print. I don't know if the same textbooks that are sold in the US and overseas are being printed all in the US. Although it makes sense why the textbooks sold overseas are considerably less if they are indeed printed overseas too. That's why most electronics are manufactured in Asia also.
You mean "Paradox of virtue" instead of "paragon of virtue" right?
Does he have real wood earphones to go with it??

No need to donate ... Kodak is not a co-op or non-profit. just buy from another manufacturer. Mitsubishi makes some decent and cheaper RC paper.
you can't slap bill gates b/c he's buried in billions of dollars in cash
