  1. Not science on Political Viewpoints Linked To Fear · · Score: 1

This is not science in my view. A sample size of 46 from one city is just not representative.

  2. It's all about the funding on Science Debate 2008 · · Score: 2, Insightful

If I were president I would swap the defence budget and NASA's budget.

  3. No wild guesses! on LGP Announces New Competition · · Score: 3, Funny

They allow guessing but not wild guessing. How silly!

  4. Desktop to POTS not so hot on John Dvorak Hypes Skype · · Score: 3, Informative

If the line is noisy then desktop-to-POTS does not work. I have tried it to my parents in South Africa from USA. Desktopto-desktop works well.

  5. Editing for size? on loband - Killer App for Developing World? · · Score: 1

There have been several articles recently about proxies and other applications that do convenience editing of web content, maybe breaking a "social contract". This looks like another example. I wonder if content producers have any issues with this kind of service. Or does reaching a larger audience justify "editing for size" changes?

  6. Re:Risk vs Reward on Crack Found in Shuttle Tank · · Score: 1

Like you say, I used to think it was about the safety of the crews, and that they were being treated with disproportionate concern. But I have since changed my view and believe that it is much more about the fear of failure, and that what is being risked are the "hopes of a nation".

  9. You must blow the whistle... on The Repercussions of Blogging · · Score: 5, Interesting
I believe that if you discover that your employer is:
    • unethically exploiting employees
    • conducting business in an illegal manner
    • killing people in the course of business
    • about to kill people in the course of business
    • conducting business in a non-competitive, monopolistic fashion
you are morally bound to speak out about it, on your blog, to the press and to whomever will listen. (If your employer is a Chinese mining company, you should just quit your job and become a full-time blogger.)
