The iPhone/iTouch DFU mode is supposed to allow re-flashing the device firmware no matter what's in there. It might be 'bricked' to most people, but to those with the right software on their desktop machine it should still be possible to push a clean OS image to the device.
Although you'd have to use twice as much disk to do it, you can both sync the content to the iPod and store a second copy of everything in a sensible directory structure that could be easily copied off to a new machine, as well.
And yes, there are tools to retrieve things from the libraries of non-iPhone/iTouch 'pods as well, though I don't know any myself.
Less demand for high-end machines full of superpowered parts miiiight have something to do with people concerned about spending too much now, maybe.
Of course, midrange parts becoming 'good enough' is a good factor for me, too. I don't feel the need to run things at stupidly high framerates on the largest resolution screens available.
Too bad for AOL that I always encrypt my messages whenever I'm talking about anything meaningful. They might get a few 'Hey's and 'Hi's, but that's all.
Of course, there's the moral issues behind this, too. I'm seriously considering jumping to another IM service that isn't trying to pull shit like this.
An open-source BIOS is something I'd really appreciate having, especially with the big corporations moving towards their big 'Trusted Computing' platform. It's MY hardware and I'll runn whatever the hell I want on it, not what some mega-corporate conglomerate decides I should.
Sounds like a submarine patent to me.
Honeywell has apparently been lurking in the depths and waiting for the environment to become rich in targets. And now they've fired the torpedoes.
Are there any internal drives with this kind of capacity? External's nice, but easier to lose than something that's actually shut inside your computer's case.
Gaim falls under the category of third party software, so I'll have to assume so. No more Messenger for me while playing around with X, but then again, I prefer AIM anyways.

Given the presence of a gift from the French in New York Harbor, something from Britain should be no problem.

Happens every Tuesday in North America. Usually to their own forums.
Ah, nothing like waking up at 3AM to a giant fireball on the horizon.

Who'se better than ex-Mayor Lastman? NOOOOOOOOOOBODY! (No, I didn't actually vote for him or anything. I was below voting age at that point.)
Or, maybe, Vista could just use the standard fonts that already exist.
DOWNLOADING is supposedly legal. Providing the files is not.
Does anyone have a link to the Netscape Network TOS?
I'm really thankful my name predates AIM's magic cutoff. Maybe I'll be able to escape this bullcrap.

I'm within walking distance of my MP's office. Might the letter carry more weight if I deliver it by hand?

He can get big-name OEM software for $15/license?
Somehow I doubt these guys are peddling legal copies.
Let's just hope that the BIOS dosen't require the bootstrap code to be digitally signed or something.
BIOS ERROR: Unsigned bootloader (LILO) detected on Primary Master drive.

Remember the Halloween Documents?
