  1. Re:Already paid on Microsoft Holds Off on Eolas Patent Changes · · Score: 1

I don't need an IPod to get skip free music, I can just use my memory. The one draw back is it's usually holds on son [Ran out of Space]g and it keeps playing over, and over, and over.. usually just the chorus.

  2. Already paid on Microsoft Holds Off on Eolas Patent Changes · · Score: 3, Funny

Microsoft has already paid licensing fee's to SCO for this technology!

  3. Pepsi thinks it's cool on Apple and Pepsi Ad Sports RIAA Targets · · Score: 5, Funny

Oh great! I use to love stealing music but if Pepsi likes it then it just ain't cool no more. At least I still have smoking *cough* *cough* You stay the hell away from that Pepsi!

  5. Control on Biometrics in the Workplace · · Score: 1

There have been points made about this not being intrusive, or that it's evil,etc.. Personally I feel that like any other kind of technology it is only as trustworthy as the people who wield it.

'If you want to control a whole bunch of people, it's the only way to go.'. Control? McDonalds, and other min. wage shops already "control" their employees by giving them so little money, inflexible hours, and constant threat of termination, I fear to think what they could accomplish with more of it.

  6. Pretty unknown on New Survey Finds No Linux 'Chill' From SCO Suit · · Score: 3, Interesting

Where I work I'm pretty much the only person that knows anything, or even cares about whats going on. Occasionally someone will ask about it and I will simply say there is no proof and SCO has been fighting giving any as hard as they can. Any time they have released what they call proof it turned out to be a complete farse that even a half wit could see. Then I email them a list of investment firms that deal in SCO stock and advise them to take their money and run.

  8. Seriously on L.A. County Bans Use Of "Master/Slave" Term · · Score: 1

I feel that all should be ashamed of the actions humans where people were treated as property. I'm also for the use of non-gender/race specific names. This personally would make more sense to me if the difference between master and slave was denoted with a different color or shap but it isn't..

When people become offended by something simply because they do not understand it has another name. Ignorance - this leads to racism, homophobia, sexism, and war, to name a few. By promoting ingornace at the P.C. level we only take a step back in the progress against hate we have made.

I'm not saying this will cause chaos in the streets and lead to hate crimes against harddrives. Just that this kind of behavour benefits none, and the people who are offended by their own ignorance will eventually be offended by chalk boards, cars, clouds, thumb tacks, and dominos, etc.. Before someone takes action against something which offends them they should at least try to understand it, and it is the responsibilty of the Government to do this as well before trying to force it on the population.

  12. Maybe I'm just jaded on Universal Music To Cut CD Prices · · Score: 1

I'm thinking it's less likely they are listening to consumers, and more likely this is a way of "proving" file sharers are just a bunch of "greedy pirates" that want something for nothing. Just wait and see I guess but I wouldn't be surprised if a month later they return the prices to normal and start screaming that people still traded music, and that they are just evil and it had nothing to do with the normal $25 (CDN) they charge per CD. All it will take is one person to download a song ..

I was in the same situation as you were, and I didn't like it. I left, and now work for a company that does things the right way the first time. We can get away with this because our projects are internal and include a lot of Research so tons of documentation, reviews, unit tests, and standards. I think it's a personal preference where someone would rater be, but I've managed to find a happy place for me :)

As nice as that would be it's not how things work in the real world. When something doesn't work it's not Netscape (in the users eyes) it's the software, and that's all it takes to loose a client.
