I agree.. I am an MSCE and have only recently started looking seriously at Linux (out of curiosity) and you are very true.. To a MS Admin Linux is very confusing.. (where is the c:\ drive!!) however I am getting better and would hope to know my way around a linux box soon with a bit more exposure..
What I fail to understand is why data of this kind is stored on Local hard disks and not on a central store. There should be policies in place to prevent users saving data to their local disks to prevent this kind of balls up.
I have worked on a client site where it is impossible to save anything to the machine (Government) whilst this was a pain in the arse it also means that sensitive data is not ever going to be revealed should the PC end up on Ebay...
I have an idea on how these weapons of mass destruction could be found in iraq.. just send all the Soldiers home and send 100 housewifes to iraq.. I am always loosing stuff and my mum / gfriend can always find them...:o)
My mum used to be addicted to Horace goes skiing and Hungry Horice on our old spectrum.. she was gutted when the tapes eventually got chewed up in the tape player... she was pregnant with my little brother at the time and I swear listening to modem's dialing still calms him down now....
As a relative newcomer to linux I was wondering what the big deal with Alan Cox leaving to study is? Are the major Linux developements completed by just a handful of people? (I know that the code is reviewed by millions and can be changed by anybody clever / able enough)
