What are you talking about? The state and local governments don't do anything anymore, and if they do, they can be overridden by the federal government with a stroke of a pen and the backing of SCOTUS. No one cares about state and local governments because decades of work has centralized all power in Washington. If you want anyone to care about anything other than the presidential elections, you need to get on board with the 10th Amendment.
Obama went to Columbia and Harvard Law School, and later taught constitutional law at U of Chicago Law School, so let's take out the "doesn't know the above" option, leaving: he's little better than Bush.
You've got to be kidding me. I could refute your argument, but instead I will just point out that at this point in the term, Bush had wide support and his numbers were just about the same as Obama's is.
To be THIS disappointed in the presidency at this early stage in the term is what is truly scary.
So at what point do we admit that we cannot POSSIBLY pick the best presidential candidate, because they are free to say whatever they want during the campaign and do the exact opposite without any accountability?
It's great that you can admit that things aren't what you expect, but the valuable part is recognizing the problem in the system and trying to figure out a way to address it.
Ok, say I have $1m in my account. I log in and now I have $2m due to this business. Then I buy $1m in stocks. What happens then? Do they reverse the purchase?
I'm not really questioning the value of historical record. I'm only questioning the knee-jerk emotional reaction when someone suggests something like this because someone just died.
Dude, I know you think you're doing a good thing here, but he doesn't need you to immortalize him. He had his life, did some great things, and he has now passed on. The thought that something you do will help honor him is an exercise only in your own ego.
I don't mean to come off as harshly as I probably am, but the bottom line is that someone is dead and that's not about you. The BS people are spouting in many of these comments has everything to do with their own conscience, guilt, personal feeling of what they're "supposed to do" and just about ZERO to do with what is good for the deceased or his family. So let's stop acting otherwise.
This story is news because it affects you, not because someone is dead and that is sad. If we can all just admit that and stop acting so fake, maybe we could all focus on doing positive things in this life, like Rick did.
yes that was indeed trollish to care more about yourself rather that the family and friends and publicly ask that question.
Uh, what? How about you answer me why this is news. Is it because this random guy died and his family is sad? No. Plenty of other people died in the last couple of days, too. It's news because it affects you.
The real reason parent got modded troll is that he didn't act like he was more concerned for the family, which is what social norms say we're supposed to do. But the point is: it's fake.
> Admittedly modest and yet in your words, you have '10 years experience'
I don't know how correcting you is immodest. I guess just saying "you're wrong" would have been more modest. Anyway, if you have my resume, you already know how many years experience I have, unless you cannot do math.
> And no reason to brag yet 'I wrote a book' (when you merely contributed).
I don't think that's too big of a deal and nothing to brag about. I'm not sure what your deal is with the "you merely contributed" stuff. I was an author along with 3 other co-authors. We also had editors, publishers, graphic designers, marketers, and a whole host of other people who were on the book project. This is how book publishing works. I don't know if you think there are people out there who write books "all by themselves", but I can tell you there aren't, unless you're talking about indie releases that sell tens if not hundreds of copies.
The book was 4 years ago and it's on my resume, so whether I mention it or not is irrelevant. The comment, to which you (not surprisingly) only paid half attention, was that I have not talked about anything I've done in the last 4 years even though you repeatedly call me an "HTML coder" and a "contractor". I don't really care what you think I've done over the period of time that isn't reflected on the resume you apparently spent time googling for.
> Please keep going. You're killing me.:)
Ok. It doesn't take any effort to respond to your misrepresentations and inaccuracies. I do wonder how you have so much time to come up with them, though.
I'm not confused about how you can get information on me. Obviously I don't have a problem with that information being available. What I'm confused about is how you have such wrong information despite the correct information being freely available.
Congratulations on turning down a job at Microsoft. I would too.
I don't know what accomplishments you think are exaggerated. My resume is admittedly modest and I don't even list anything I've done in years. I have no reason to look for a job, so I have no reason to brag about my accomplishments. Even in this thread with you consistently saying I'm an "HTML coder" and a "contractor", I haven't talked about anything I've done in the last 4 years. I really don't care whether you think I'm "leet" or whatever.
I'm not sure what I'd do if you accidentally made sense in one of your comments. I didn't repeat anything you said. But, I guess being accurate doesn't really matter.
You make a lot of assumptions based on half of the facts, just like your misunderstanding of simple data modeling concepts. Keep living your life by rules of thumb, and you will continue to look like a jackass when you come across the exceptions. Reading between the lines, it sounds like you are older than I am and have significantly less responsibility at your job, otherwise I can't reconcile why you would be so sure that I am overstating mine. Perhaps spending less time with personal attacks on slashdot and more time making yourself valuable would be more productive in getting you out of the cubicle farm that you are surely in. If you ever need a job, I've got a couple bullshit testing roles on my team, and I'd be willing to negotiate a rate upwards of $8/hr. It would be annoying to deal with your personality, so I would probably have an intern manage you.
"a contractors" do hire people in some cases. One of the people at our client is a contracted project manager, although I always thought that was a little odd. Anyway, I am not a contractor.
I hire the people I manage. HR does not know what people need to be on my team. Companies that work the way you are describing end up hiring people who don't fit. Sorry that you have to deal with that.
Congratulations on doing "interviewing" for your "team". Perhaps one day you will be responsible for hiring the people you are managing, as well as deciding how many people you need to execute your project. If you ever get to this point and need some advice, I'll try to lend you some based on my "3" years experience doing "HTML".
You may simply be self-mediating normal state rather than experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

I don't really understand what you are saying is illegal. They put $1m in my account accidentally, and I didn't do anything with it.

Not sure of specifics, but you can bet your overvalued mortgage that it has much more to do with covering someone's ass than national security.
Why? I could easily argue that the $1m I used was the $1m that was my money, not the $1m they added accidentally.
Ok, say I have $1m in my account. I log in and now I have $2m due to this business. Then I buy $1m in stocks. What happens then? Do they reverse the purchase?

If you liked the software, why didn't you donate when the guy was alive?
You're playing on guilt.

> I can see how confusing living a lie can be confusing. I'll bet
> your easily confused alot.
I get particularly confused when people can't structure a sentence.
It's "you're" and "a lot", by the way. Hope this helps.
Sorry, all your inaccuracies are confusing.

And who is that?

Where are you getting your information? I have been employed by the same employer since day 1 after graduation.
> And how your resume consists of a task you did in college for
> the computer lab?
I don't even know what this is referring to???
You're still not making sense.
I'm not sure what I'd do if you accidentally made sense in one of your comments. I didn't repeat anything you said. But, I guess being accurate doesn't really matter.

Jesus... 3 different replies over a span of almost 4 hours? Your ego must be pretty fragile.
