I really don't see major corperations using software routers, due to the fact that hardware routers are simpler for most people, and they have the set it and forget it-thing expect when a new firmware comes around. Unless they have a hardware router solution I don't see here, it's pretty useless.

Linux has a niche, and there is no way M$ could kill it. Geeks would use it, for server use, it's the lowest TCO, and also it will just be like DeCSS, someone will crack it, for a time we can access everything, and then M$ changes it ... wait, that won't work because at that point, everything will be using that DRM and require everyone to upgrade. When that happened, people will get so fed up that it will force M$ to loose the DRM, and problably a good share of there market.

Well, it might be the death nail for Linux x86, but you also need to remember that Linux works fine on a shitload of other architectures. When I upgrade to a new Mac, although it's techinally locked into Mac OS (because it uses Open Firmware), I just backup it's harddrive, install Linux, and then use it for something like, a backup webserver or something. Just because x86 is the most common platform, LinuxPPC is a viable alterative, and there EULA isn't the pain that WIndows is. Disclaimer: I have only used x86 and PPC versions of Linux so I can't speak for myself on using 680x0 and other ports.

Seriously, the three computer limit isn't much of a problem. I own more then three computers, and it's very easy to play on more then three. I keep all my purchased music on the powermac, and use iTunes Music Sharing to my other machines. When I connect to the PowerMac, I enter my iTMS username and password, and listen to my heart content. Then why I'm done, I click Advance -> Deauthrize computer. Them I'm done and I can go onto another computer, and stream the music. On my two main machines (the iBook and my PowerMac) I leave them authorized 24/7 so it isn't a problem, and as my iPod doesn't count I have one computer unused. When I will finnally replace either the iBook or PowerMac, I'll deauthorize that computer and authorize another one.

  19. Apple killed HyperCard on HyperCard Gone for Good · · Score: 1

If memory serves HyperCard was created with System 6 (or was it 7) and I remember still seeing it about the time Mac OS 8 became popular. The reason HyperCard wasn't updated is because Apple replaced it with AppleScript. In Mac OS X, AppleScript can use C/C++ Code, have it's own interface, talk w/ other AppleScript applications. Although HyperCard was easy to use, AppleScript has more power, and I rather have more power then easy to use software.

Anyway, I'm going to see if this can kill off PowerPoint (I already replaced Execl with Gnumeric, and Word with TextEdit (I found TextEdit to be just more damn efficent at being a word processor then Word ever was), and if not, keep searching so I can de-M$ my machine.
