    loop-AES uses iterations of MD5 to generete the final encryption password. On my config i hash my passphrase 1 000 000 times. Which makes the delay significant.

    there is a expoit for this flaw now though. It takes 4-6 hours of full cpu usage on the vurnable host to get root. It uses some very itricate memory operations that seems to do something usefull but i sure can't explain what the hell is going on.

    AFAIK there was exploit code (aka poc code) out before the sasser worm was created.
    He just made the spreading/scanning functions.
    And after some more analyzis even the FTP server code was taken form somewhere else.

    This is only true for newbies. Experienced programmes in any language can figure what stuff means, even if they looking at code they dident write themselvs.

    Valve would have delayed it anyway. The "hack" is just a convenient scrap goat. Looking at the code that got out in the wild it's quite obvious that valve had a long way till release

    But what IPv6 boosters won't tell you, unless you press them, is that every new IPv6 nameserver, Web server, Web browser, and so on has new code--code in which security problems may lurk. Indeed, security problems with new protocol implementations are to be expected. And while some issues have been found with these new IPv6 servers, more are sure to be discovered.

    You can't just blame a protocol for bad programming.
