    Horribly impractical? It's a cylinder with what is now comparatively cheap pretty bits stuck on the outside. It only looks impractical if you focus on the pretty bits, which are really just cantilevered balconies that don't go out an enormous distance (just like on a lot of other buildings but arranged in a different way).

    Yes but I suggest looking at industrial structures such as cooling towers or petrochemical plant as a comparison instead of office buildings.

    The politics isn't even conservative versus not - Thatcher took the side of the experts versus fantasy with climate change. The politics is being paid by a vested interest who wishes to push a fantasy versus not being paid by that vested interest.

    Sadly a lot of it is nefarious.
    Take a look at most orgs during boom times and it's not hard to spot the crooks. Many are quite flashy with their looted wealth when they think the shareholders or customers are not looking.

    All of those arguments about Linux and Mac being super secure back before there was enough market share for people to care to try to attack them.

    Those arguments started to look as utterly stupid as they are to just about everyone around 2000 when Macs started becoming more common and linux ended up on a lot of servers and gadgets. I hope for your sake that you were attempting to make a joke.

    This combined with a much more robust and inexpensive launch options (Space X, ULA, Blue Origin, Skylon?, etc)

    Most of those use rocket motors that are purchased from Russia.

    I'll take the extra step and blame an entire level of government. Concentrations of funding in tiny little local governments seem to be driving a feedback loop where some areas have everything, others not enough, so people and businesses move to the areas with greater services. Faced with a loss of revenue from people and businesses moving out the poor areas are forced to tax the utter shit out of whoever is left and try get rich quick gimmicks like casinos and monorails.
    When the road turns to dirt at the edge of the government boundary you know that things are fucked up to the point of uselessness.

    So the idea that there "used to be jobs here" that are now in China is delusional.

    The manufacturing sector crashed, so there used to be a lot more of that sort of job instead of a few hours a week as a greeter at Walmart.

    I'm not a lawyer but I do recognise it's the pricks that send in the lawyers for this sort of thing that are the real garbage. Do you think a lawyer would do this on their own without somebody giving them money and a task to do?
