I regularly change the oil on my VW Jetta. I buy 5 quarts of synthetic blend oil plus the filter which usually costs around $24. That plus the time it takes to do the change. $40 or $70 both sound like a rip off to me.
Exactly!! I like how women's pants and clothing typically don't have pockets. And if they do, the pockets are too small to hold the car key with the multitude of useless junk attached or the overly long women's wallets. I find everytime I go anywhere with my fiance, she asks me to put her keys in my pocket. With my pda, wallet, and cell phone how am I supposed to fit that? Sorry for the short rant.
The argument is slightly different. Usually, you know there is an identical twin...at least the mother does. If a person's DNA was acquired without their knowledge, it would be possible to plant the cloned DNA evidence. Because another source of the DNA isn't apparent, this evidence would later seem to point to the donor of the DNA. Considering that we leave our DNA everywhere we are, it wouldn't be hard to get a sample without our knowledge.
I admit that the odds of this type of thing are long, but people go through extraordinary lengths to get away with something.
This may be a little off-topic but I agree with kiyooka. This type of racism shouldn't be tolerated but it seems society feels it's ok to make fun of Asians. It reminds me of Abercrombie making a t-shirt with the caption:
Wong Brothers
Two wongs don't make it white.
What should the response to this type of racism be? Get angry and advocate the rights of Asians? I believe that would in fact be racist because you're differentiating yourself from the rest of society by race. So what is the right thing to do?
I don't think most people give the tech workers the credibility that other highly educated workers get. They wouldn't dare apply the same thing to a doctor or a architect. Would you want walk into a building made by an architect earning the minimum wage? Why would anyone want to put their credit card and identity in something made by a software engineer making the minimum wage?

Development Release
Build 67 15/12/2003
I've been using version 4.10. I haven't tried the development versions mainly because I just wanted to play mp3s in something other than windows media player and winamp 3.0. Going through the version history, it looks like a lot of the recent changes were bug fixes. It looks like even their development release date is buggy so downloading that dev version might be fun...unless it's just DD/MM/YYYY
I just tried it out and my initial impressions are that it looks pretty solid. It starts up pretty quick when opening an mp3 or movie file. And one of my favorite things: it has a window bar size mode. I will probably continue to use it in my sad winXP only machine at work.
Probably my only complaint is with the installation wizard's "AOL icon" option selected by default. Completely forgivable...cuz we've all gotta make money in these tough times.
I didn't like 3.x for the reasons you described. I found a new player called quintessential that does a very nice job as a player without trying to do too much. We'll see if there's enough of a reason to go back.
I find most ideas look great on paper. The execution usually determines what value it will have in the end. You hit the nail on the head when you asked, How would one enforce the email tax idea, too? I believe these types of things are very difficult to enforce. I've changed my tactics and use tools/strategies to manage these annoyances. I have dual e-mail addresses, one given only for personal friends/family and another to give out to businesses. The personal one is always spam free and I expect mostly spam in the other one. As for my phone, I bit the bullet and use Caller ID with an answering machine. Legislation seems too heavy handed for this type of thing.
I now regularly receive non-profit telemarketer calls since I put my phone number on the Do-Not-Call registry. I never used to get calls from them. Putting your e-mail on a central database just gives the organizations that want to e-mail you an easy and accessible place to get it...whether they follow the rules of the list or not.
7 figures would seem ridiculous unless something went wrong. I believe that putting yourself in harms way for the greater good deserves better compensation. In the end, some company is going to make a profit that well exceeds the total of all compensation given. Why not give the profits to the people that made the drug/vaccine possible?
I do sincerely thank you for putting yourself in harms way.
I believe this sort of thing deserves compensation in some way. A 7 figure compensation does seem reasonable. Does anyone know if he was compensated for it? The article mentions that he was a volunteer but doesn't mention if he was a paid volunteer. Or was he one of the few people who would do this sort of thing for the benefit of mankind? People with inflicted loved ones at least have some kind of mental compensation.
In a way they liberated themselves from oppressive ISPs and their sadistic tactics. Sorry, that's what I get for posting just after paying my optimum online bill...
That was the only phrase of that Filipino dialect that I noticed. The rest seemed like gibberish to me. Was it an amazing coincidence that something they said meant something? There go those infinite primate typists again.
I swear one of the Ewoks spoke a dialect of the Philippines. The scene where they see 3CPO for the first time. I can't write in the dialect, but they say "Mah ganda" which means how beautiful.

3) Short battery life
The acer site says the battery lasts only 1 hour.

Putting morality aside, could widespread use of stem cells to clone organs or other body parts eliminate using DNA as forensic evidence?
I can see it now:

Or even better: Ship the CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, C?0s to India. I'm sure every company could afford to lose their biggest salaries.
At that level of sophistication, would they be considered our next evolutionary step?
If they start to outnumber or outrank us, would they grant us the same rights and privileges?

Playing golf or attending meetings usually have a much lower chance of dying a gruesome death and have little benefit for the rest of society.
