Still I am old enough to remember when barcodes first came in use. I can't prove it but for me checkout time seems to have increased.
Bar codes also lowered the bar for the intelligence and overall quality of the check out person. Instead of a person who tries to learn the codes for each of the products and tries to do well, you get someone who just needs to know the difference between an apple and a steak. Lowering the bar also meant lowering the amount of training and the effectiveness of the employee.
That's what I get for double checking what I wrote after I posted. After realizing the mistake I tried to post a correction but I didn't have the patience to wait for that damn waiting period. That's what I get for trying to be a beautiful and unique snowflake.
True. I suppose the possibility of holding the software company responsible provides them with a false sense of security...as delusional as that is. I've never tried to justify my bosses' logic/illogic...makes me feel dirty.
Every time I propose even a piece of freeware, the bosses don't want anything to do with it. The logic behind their decision is simply that if something really important were lost because of a program glitch or flaw, we might be legally liable. I have yet to come up with an adequate response. Any suggestions?
Listening to one song over and over again would be too expensive if you needed to pay for it every single time. I think a lifetime license would be more reasonable. Thank goodness cable companies have always been reasonable.
Reminds me of that Futurama episode that had that public service announcement about how being a robosexual can cause the end of the human species.

Notice that the wav file is labeled as BigBangSound_2.wav,
which means there was another sound file. I wonder what the first sound was.

You're right. What I was trying to point out was how one person's innovative idea is bound to be improperly used.
this is almost as dumb as laptop steering wheel mount

No self driving cars, but I did see that toyota has made a self parking car.
I think people will never be able to give up complete control over their car.

I guess a wall of these displays doesn't require massive amounts of electricity.
