Hmmm.. looking for an xbox (g1) emulator.. it was pretty standard... what MS has going for it is a toolchain that's fairly consistent for xbox and windows games... seems to me what sony needs is a more developer friendly mindset.
Agreed, to a major extent. MS's biggest advantage is that it has a lot of desktop mindshare, and a lot of developer tools. I think that the direction Windows 8 for ARM seems to be taking (eliminating a lot of legacy interfaces, and encouraging managed code) is the right direction. I also feel that offering developer tools for free (Visual Studio Express) is a good move, though I do think they could take it as far as the current "Pro" version's toolchain in the free version, as their enterprise versions with TFS integration etc. is fine as-is for corporate customers and offers enough value-add for licensing.
It could be pretty interesting to see Balmer out of the command seat. Though I have very little hope that they'd move someone more right for the position in, such as Scott Guthrie, or someone else from devdiv, which is where a lot of innovation tends to happen.
Piracy, black market goods, and other less than legal means are now and have always been a part of a free market. Most people would rather buy legitimately, but the black market and other underground means are what drives competition, when other sources of competition are blockaded (in this case via patents and copyright).
Just because I am unwilling to pay a given price, doesn't mean I am unwilling to pay anything. It also doesn't mean that the pricing is fair given a lack of a free market of competition. The only balance to that is black market sources.
I think they'll probably work on integrating it with windows messenger, which has been pretty open architecture wise, while not porting their own client has been friendly to alternatives.
Without some serious corporate funding a a real alternative cant exist. Google talk + voice comes very close though... a more open alternative wold be very hard, as you really need a central authority with these kinds of services to work around technical complexities that would otherwise make things useless for mom/dad etc.
Easier still... dedicate a portion of theater space to 3d-only showings, and not worry about lense changes... I've been watching more movies in 3d at the theater not because I enjoy it that much more, I can't even lean to the side while watching now... but because there might be something interesting, or it might be done well. Avatar was about the best use of 3d I've seen so far, though a mediocre movie at best... hopefully it gets better. That said, I have no intention of getting it in my living room for a long while. Part of going out to the movies is a giant screen, short of 60" in the living room won't compare, and though kind of anal about sound and video I'm not nearly that spendy with it.
Being that most of the theaters around me are either harkins or amc, I'd like a more comprehensive list of suspect theaters myself... maybe yelp, who knows.
The funny thing is this would be an excellent captive audience for new releases at $30-40 a pop.. maybe second week. Also, would be interesting to get netflix involved...
at over 6' last time I flew more than a couple hours was stuck in an inside row on the window... having my shoulder tucked in, with my knees up against my chest was perfectly comfortable... and why I only fly if I can get the isle front row, or in first class if it's much more than an hour flight.
Not to mention the Azure platform (windows/.Net cloud infrastructure from MS) isn't bad... Though the pricing is harder to calculate than some others. I've been contemplating a combination of node, express, persevere, rabbitmq, mongodb and postgres myself for a scalable platform. But I'm personally platform indifferent... I use mostly win+.net at work.
Wish I had mod points... In 222003, I was in the middle of setting up a test server, the updates were going to take 40 min. to download, so I figured I'd put it up so I could remote in to finish up at home (was the end of the day). 15 minutes later I was called because the internet was "down"... actually flooding the connection as the server was hosed/controlled that quickly... Now, nothing gets in front f a firewall with good port restrictions... MS-SQL Server and the Slammer worm... sigh.
This being the same government that is spending hundreds of billions on foreign wars, and maintaining outposts throughout the world. Not to mention many redundant organizations within said structure, and managed to pass a health care bill that is worse than not having it, oh yeah, and the patriot act... wonderful pieces of legislation all. Sorry, but you as a consumer always have the option to vote with your wallet when it comes to a corporation. That isn't so with the government who will take your home or stick you in prison if you don't pay.
When I had my netbook (1024x600) it was actually pretty difficult to get a decent browsing experience even, reducing the two bars to one, using the single menu instead of split... and a few other tweaks (hiding the menubar in firefox).. it wasn't too bad... though it made me painfully aware of checking the screen size for popovers in browser, and never hiding buttons.... got really used to F11 (full screen) and alt with +|-|0 etc for scaling. Actually it was the better scaling that got me over to chrome... since a lot of my browsing at that time was on a netbook, or my htpc (on my htpc now).
Though it isn't the best for a high pixel count display, it is very relevant to other user experiences that the system is likely to be installed in... I've been following LXDE with intruige myself for desktop use. I'm a fan of a lighter weight desktop for working on... Though will admit that Windows 7 is my fav UI currently.
It really started with a few Supreme Court decisions in the 1830's allowing for such encroachment... I'm genuinely intruiged by the fsp you mention though...
Google: australia teen murder... 10 million results... still seem to have that little problem... there were crimes and murders before guns existed, and those actions will always be a part of society... Mentally disturbed people can use explosives and poisons as well.

Sony Playstation maybe, not Sony proper, only antitrust suit would likely bring that, if ever. Though I don't know why Sony doesn't just buy Nintendo.

Just vote for the guy with the (L) next to their name...
Yeah but Year of the Bic Mac Attack is awesome... While the "Big Apple Attack" could land you in Guantanimo...
Damn, better change the combination on my luggage.
No mac client though.. can you use the ekiga.net info for a mac sip client?

But you can see your boss coming without a more obvious mirror...
Just like in practice most women find width more important than length... but this is /.

Separate v-lan segments for unknown devices... Separate external-only wifi segment... only can access what those in the wild can access...

Generally speaking VB6 was so intrinsically tied to COM it would be very hard to port.

Until you want to run vmware, parallels, or virtualbox...
voltron.. each lion sold separately... He-Man, green tiger sold separately... (insert toy here) "collect them all" ... it isn't new at all.
