Leave it to Pontiac to take the GTO name and come up with something completely boring and undistinguished to go with it. At least the new Mustang looks like a Mustang.
Branding is such a scam... Like putting the name Commodore on any crap box is going to make it magically like a C64 or an Amiga.. People are not that stupid... Same goes for Napster. The old Napster is gone, forever. Using the name won't make it anything like the real thing.
I won't know how well green beans will play with Customs. I suppose I can try, but mostly, that's the best I can do. At home, we sometimes roast the beans we grow ourselves. We a have a few bushes in our backyard, however they don't produce enough to feed a family of four except on special occasions. however....
In Costa Rica, only old people's green coffee beans roast YOU!!!
Sad to see how superior technology gets caught up in corporate mergers and gets killed. First, the DEC faithful had to swallow up the indignity of seeing DEC swallowed up by a Compaq, and then this...
I spent many a nights hacking Fortran on DEC boxes running everything from Ultrix to Digital Unix 4.. those were the good times..
I hope the demand for guitar amplifier tubes keeps manufacturing going for a few more years.
I for one, welcome my EL34 and 12AX7 overlords that glow red hot inside my Marshall.
This, combined with the teleportation research we read about the other day, can only convice me that we will soon be overrun by zombies, imps and cacodemons, and that only sentry robots will protect us!
I just hope they move their teleportation research to Mars under the understanding that there won't be a reinforcements fleet coming if anything goes wrong!
The question is: why?
I have the WWDC Tiger Beta and Spotlight is just flawless. It's totally integrated into the desktop instead of just being browser based, it supports way more file formats, it searches in real time as you type, it lets you save searches as virtual folders and what not...
Not to mention that Mac users are a fanatical bunch that usually upgrade when they have the chance, meaning that a year from now the majority will be using Tiger.
Out of curiosity, what kind of music do you listen to?
If you are seriously into serious music, AM/FM is just not going to cut it. Not going to find Television, Richard Hell, King Crimson, Magma or Slint on your local rock station.
how THE FUCK is this a troll? Completely valid point. I hesitate to get satellite radio because I would be forced to listen to it in one place.
The standards for choosing moderators need to get a bit tighter.
True, at least they tell you straight on that it has rice. Not that a lot of people can tell what that implies. But it's still crap beer. They put rice not only because it gives the beer a lighter body, but because it's considerably cheaper than malted grain. However, Bud is too expensive. Tap water costs me 5 bucks a month, tastes the same, and I can get as much of it as I want.
I probably got the Reinheidsgebot stuff from some brewing book. I don't drink Becks, so I wouldn't know what's on the label.
I drink (good) beer because it tastes good. I don't necessarily want to get drunk when I drink. I'm not in college anymore you know. But if you want to play that game, I think that people that drink for the sole purpose of getting drunk are idiots. People that drink beer for the sole purpose of getting drunk are even bigger idiots.
Not that Dogfish Head World Wide Stout (21% ABV) can't get you blasted quite efficiently.
If Anheuser Busch makes it, it's crap. There when it was illegal to sell stuff like this in Germany and call it beer. It's a violation of the Reinheidtsgebot, or Purity Law, which states that beer can only contain malted grain, water, yeast and hops.
Back in college, a couple of years ago, I worked as a research assitant for an astronomer. He made me learn Fortran77, and then Fortran 90. F77 is horribly stiff, no different from punching stuff into a card. But F90 was really great, easy, straight forward syntax, and very, very fast. My job was basically working with 15 year old f77 code and writing new f90 code used to calculate IR emissions from protoplanetary disks around stars. I leared a lot and made me a better programmer, I think.
In Central American Spanish "male and female" can be translated to "macho y hembra" or "masculino y femenino". "Macho y hembra" refer mostly to animals, while "masculino y femenino" are used with humans, and are considered correct when used in, say, a fill out form. "Hembra", while not strictly a profanity sounds very rude when used on women.
It's disturbing when technical issues become central to a wider political issue that involves everybody, yet very few people have the background to understand it or have an informed opinion about it. Software patents is such an issue. This one is too, and much more important. It's quite easy to lie and mislead the general public with it, since few people have the knowledge to see through the bullshit.

Hello, fellow beer brewer. Good coffee can be had anywhere, even in McDonalds. I just get my stuff from farmer's markets, or even the supermarket.

I concurr. Dunkin Donuts has really good coffee.
The founder of Starbucks had a business insight:
1. Sell cheap coffee for 4 bucks. 2. ??? 3. Profit!
Step two being: Yuppies will buy it just to feel cool.
Another reason why I buy it at source!
As a Costa Rican, the idea of instant coffee is insulting, let alone self-heating coffee.
Every time I go home, I bring a few months' supply of 100% pure Arabica beans. Here in the US good coffee is insanely expensive.

So, when is the documentary about the extreme activities of Everquest players coming?

Looks decent, although it gets a bit choppy when there are a lot of monsters on the same scene. Now on to my ATI Rage tests...

Anybody know if thispatch made it in? I just recently switched from KDE to GNOME and switching desktops with the scrollwheel is what I miss the most.
