    Actually, it seems to me that they were only testing commercial products. A lot of really good filters are FOSS.

    Honestly, they are missing most of the best known filters.

    Yes, they did port the Windows kernel. But what about making Xen run on Windows?

    Who remembers the QEMU "Secure, Portable, Virtual Privacy Machine"?

    I was working on making my own version, with my own programs and settings, but QEMU is incredibly slow. Xen is the only free virtual machine capable of the preformance that I want, but I cannot use Xen to replace QEMU bacause it cannot run under Windows.

    Maybe I just need to stop complaining, get much better at C, and join their effort.

    That probably means that you are crazy. If you wanted to do that properly, you'de run Linux (Or BSD or OSX or Cgywin or...) and set up a script to do it for you and then page you the stories. If you are like me, you'de modify the script to automatically make a FP, but it makes your karma go "Bad".

    I myself have tried many alternative shells for Windows. I understand what you say about your wife not wanting to use the laptop with the new shell... my family almost killed me when GeoShell popped up on them.

    However, have you actually tried Fluxbox? Fluxbox is so damn fast you wouldn't believe it. Sure there are no desktop icons, or much of anything for that matter, but it's very nice once you get used to it.

    To see what I mean, try downloading bb4win, a port of BlackBox (Which is slightly less featurefull than FluxBox)

    I'm going to have to disagree. GNU stands for "GNUs Not Unix", so I'm pretty sure that being seperate from Unix is pretty important to these (gender non-specific) guys. Sure a Unix stamp could be beneficial in many ways, but it just doesn't make sense for Linux. Unix-like is about as close as it should be.

    Also, in almost any tabbed browser, middle-clicking (aka open link in new tab) doesn't send and referrer info. It's so useful sometimes...
