    Yes, the plant might die because it is deprived of water and sunlight.

    It is equally possible that that the water and sunlight stops because the plant is dead and no longer able to power them.

    It is also possible that an external factor is causing both the sunlight and water to stop, and the plant to die.

    You have to carry out additional research beyond establishing a correlation to find out which of the three it is.

    If you are a business user, their target market, then you probably need Outlook / Evolution for your email. There isn't really a viable Windows version of Evolution, there certainly isn't a Linux version of Outlook, and Thunderbird isn't really a viable substitute.

    NTFS-3G runs on FUSE, so it isn't anything like as fast as a native filesystem, but yes it works.

    I manage to run MacOSX and Windows XP at the same time on 2GB without any problems. I also manage Ubuntu and Windows 2003 SBS on 4GB.

    Having it authenticate to a Windows 2003 SBS domain is one way to do it.

    The "My Computer" icon was a bit like the "Macintosh HD" icon. The Recycle Bin was a bit like Mac's Trash Can. The Start Menu was a bit like Mac's Apple Menu. In those days, the Apple Menu had all the apps on it. It doesn't any more.

    There is a very popular class of machines that can't run Vista, called Netbooks.

    I'd put Windows 2000 more in the awsome category.

    Having something that didn't BSOD if you looked at it the wrong way was a major achievement for Microsoft in those days.

    XP has matured a lot since then, and computer are much faster and have much more memory than they did when XP was released.

    I've used it too. I had to figure out how to get rid of it from a new computer. I think it was Ctrl-Esc to get the task manager, then kill the program, and delete it from the Startup Group in Program Manager,

    Maybe a 4.5 year old kid can use it, but is it easy enough for her parents to use?

    I remember an ad from about 20 years ago for a video recorder that was so easy to use that "even a grown up could use it".

    The RIAA trials aren't criminal trials. They have a completely different set of rules.

    In England, the MCPS (British equivalent of the RIAA) can either sue you for copyright infringment, or report you to your local trading standards department for selling counterfeit goods, in which case trading standards will prosecute you and MCPS will attend the trial as a witness.

    They only need "reasonable suspicion" to search. The fact that it is coming from your IP address is reasonable suspicion even if your neighbour has hacked your WiFi.

    And even if they know it was your neighbour who hacked your WiFi, they can still search, because your WiFi router is a crime scene and has relevant evidence.

    But if it is the **AA taking you to court for copyright infringement, then it is under civil rules. They only need to prove "on the balance of probabilities" but don't have the same rights to search for evidence.

    Tasks work fine on Activesync, at least on Windows Mobile Devices. Notes will sync with the desktop Activesync, but not over the air using Exchange Activesync.

    I don't think Microsoft's monopoly is beginning to fray. They have never had a monopoly in mobile devices, and what they are doing is entrenching Exchange as the monopoly standard for email servers.

    On the client side, I would hope you can just put Google's server details into Activesync and have your google mail and calendar appear on your phone.

    Adobe Reader. Some of the stuff on the web is in pdf format rather than HTML.

    A media player to listen to your mp3 collection.

    FYI, Windows 3.2 was a version that had support for Far Eastern languages. It didn't ship in the US or Europe.

    It had some sort of networking, but did it have TCP/IP? I'm not so sure about that.

    Windows 7 Starter edition is equivalent to Vista Home Basic. Windows 7 Basic is equivalent Vista Starter. That's where you are getting confused. I think a lot of people will get confused with that.

    Dell doesn't want unhappy customers. If people phone Dell complaining that they can't have Outlook, Internet Explorer, Adobe Reader and MS Word open at the same time - a pretty common combination I would have thought, then Dell will do something about it, like select an operating system that lets you open Evolution, Firefox, Evince and OO.o Writer at the same time.

    You might find that a lot of the technology that enables chips to run at speeds in the 2GHz region is patented.
