  4. Re:From Nature: standing wave on The Science of Santa · · Score: 1

An even better explanation is that Santa doesn't actually deliver to the whole world on the night of the 24th/25th December. For example, he delivers in Germany on the night of the 5th/6th December. Russia's Christmas is in early January, and Grandfather Frost looks after deliveries there. In central Europe - Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, baby Jesus is responsible for deliveries of presents, and they are delivered after the evening meal on 24th December. The American Santa lives in Alaska. The British and Irish one lives in Lapland, Finland. In Sweden, each house apparently has its own Santa who lives either in the barn or under the house. In many parts of the world, a festival other than Christmas is observed as the main event of the year, such as Divali or Eid, and they have completely different arrangements that don't involve Santa.

A lot of people predicted that Apple would call their TV thingy an "iTV", except people in Britain who were aware that that is the name of our largest commercial television channel which has been around a lot longer than Apple. In the end it was called the Apple TV, so maybe this will be called the Apple Tablet?

This isn't Apple's target market. The only niche business user Apple is likely to target with this is the photographer or film maker on-location. If this can serve them better than a Mac Book Pro, then Apple will do it. I can't think how it would though, but I suppose that's why I don't have Jonathan Ive's job.

My virus scanner (MS Security Essentials) picked up a few viruses in mp3 files recently. On further investigation, apparently they weren't mp3 files at all. They were labled as mp3 files, but were in some other format that prompted Windows Media Player to download a codec from somewhere that contained the payload.

If you listen to your mp3 files on Winamp, maybe you are OK. Or maybe you are only OK if you update to the latest version which has a security fix.
