Admit it: cli is not for joe average that only needs to change its pc configuration once in a decade. Even if he learns something, he will forget everything in a couple of months
you're wrong... 50% faster than the competition is not twice the speed, is 1.5 the speed. The last sentence (100% faster) is correct in respect with the second one. The second (twice the speed) is not correct in respect with the first one (50% faster).
Also, the article doesn't says: 100% less response time. It says: The response time is 100% faster (if it took 10ms now it takes 5ms), and that makes the title 100% correct: response times (halved).

My first hard drive had 20Megs... I must be a little older then you:) On the other side, my daughter doesn't understands why oh why she can't record 3 hours of cartoons every day to my HDDs.
So, if you think 400G is big enough, just start using your PC as a PVR. I'm waiting... waiting, for the time where storing all my DVDs on hard drives is cheap enough for me to forget about the DVD player and the constant swapping of DVDs.
you aren't quoting the right sentences:
"why would anyone buy a $5999 8GB memory card......when they could buy 2 4GB cards FOR 1 FRACTION OF THE PRICE AND WITHOUT ANY OTHER BENEFICT"
It's a good thing, but not for today. A $6000 "add-on" doesn't fit with a equipment that cost $1000 or less:
"Oh, I bought my new car for $1000 and spent $6000 buying a new wheel... it's so cool:P "
I undestand your post, and let me tell you that I wasn't criticizing americans, but politican decisions. Those decisions are made by a small group that represents 200 millions.
About the rest:
- The other countries abbandoned Kyoto, because one of the major polluters in the world (US) didn't want to fullfill it. It cost money, but also does the NASA projects, and we are here talking about it.
- I didn't say that every country that America attacks in wrong. But I didn't saw Afganistan or Iraque asking for help. I do saw America propose to UN to go to Iraque; but UN said: no way; and... *this is the bad move*: America replied with "ok, we asked politely, now we'll do it *our* way anyway."
I'm just saying that the political direction of your govern has lost me. I'm not bashing the "american ppl".
but I think that someone is trying to block voter's brains with nice images of american flags on martian soil, so they can' think of other wonderfull things that the US made last years:
- Boicot Kioto pact.
- Attack countries like it was done in the middle age.
- Pretend to be the protectors of the world, with power to do everything they want without being questioned.
- Disband space technology/health studies in favor of military studies.
When I was young, I though about America as presented by Hollywood: land of opportunity, freedom and "the good ones". Now, every day, week, month that passes I just realize that you're becoming a really strange country where words like privacy and liberty mean nothing, and I find really hard to figure out if the US are still on the "good" side.
I know it's a us centric site, and I'll be modded down, but someone had to say it:P
hmm... you wasily found out a "bug" in my calculation... but, did I wrote the conversion from mile to inch correctely ? (you do know have the number printed in your head don't you?)
Why on earth would someone that buys a console want Linux on it ? It's just a geek thingy no? It's like a virus: install linux on everything. Don't get me wrong, I do like linux, but don't see the beneficts of running it inside a console being that a GC or a PS2 or whatever...

and even if you know the command: man man
man, version 1.5k

its not a redution of 100% (which would make it to 0ms)
it is a increase of 100% in response time, aka a redution of 50%.

...even the most famous tech god is only an email away.
How did you get my email?
wrong... you're the one that have to pay for Microsoft ME... or XP, or 2000...
you aren't quoting the right sentences: ...when they could buy 2 4GB cards FOR 1 FRACTION OF THE PRICE AND WITHOUT ANY OTHER BENEFICT"

"why would anyone buy a $5999 8GB memory card...

"Oh, I bought my new car for $1000 and spent $6000 buying a new wheel... it's so cool
with $6000 you buy:
- 20 x 160GB harddrives
- a bunch of 80GB notebook hardrives
4GB of data:
- 1 DVD
- 6 CDs
So why would someone wants (not even asking about *needs*) this!!!
The $$$ per GB is $1250... reality check anyone ?
Oh, I see, I can put one of this on my digital camera that I bought for $500, and could take 1 million photografs.. that's cool.
or does it have a Ferrari logo, and makes the sound of filling gas when plugged to your ferrari notebook ?

I don't agree with you.
For me, converting 38.1mm to kilometers is just a matter of adding 0's: 0.00000381km
Converting 1.5 inches to miles gives you the nice result:
1 inch = 1.57828283 x 10-05 mile
rouding results can become problematic, no ?
1m = 1000 mm
1km = 1000 m
1kg = 1000 g
1 Ton = 1000 kg
1 liter (water) = 1kg
1 hectare = 10000 m2
1 km2 = 100 hectares
Do you see the similarity with our numeric system ?
You only see 1's and 0's.
