but I might use it to read an attachment. I'm constantly getting attachments in emails: if I'm only on my mobile, and the attachment is a PDF, I can read it in Acrobat. If it's a Word or Powerpoint, I have to switch the laptop on (if I have it with me). Actually, I could imaging proofing a .doc and making minor changes while travelling on one of the newer phones (like N97) that has a slide out keyboard and a decent size screen - as long as all the menus hide when not needed.

As others have said, it is common throughout Europe. In Jan2008, The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) went live, meaning all participating players (all major banks) use the same clearing process, whether for Credits(manual payments) or Direct Debits. The aim is to have all institutions migrated by 2010. Some more info at http://www.europeanpaymentscouncil.eu/content.cfm?page=sepa_vision and http://www.sepa.eu/

Its not a problem, it doen't let you register the the other addresses. Also, when I login with johnsmith instead of john.smith, it tells me that johnsmith is invalid, and asks if I meant john.smith. Its somewhat useful as a filter, tho john.smith+anykeyword@gmail.com is better

Coming from London, and having studied at Sussex Uni for the last few years,(so i use the southern mainline quite a bit) I can say that i've not had any real problem with the service.
Over the last two years they've replaced the rolling stock with new trains (tho not as nice as the Virgin Trains). I've not noticed the trains getting over crowded (only sometimes at peak hrs between East Croydon + London Victoria ... about 15mins). And there's usually someone walking up/down the train collecting rubbish.
The only gripes i've had are the weekend engineering works, which always seem to fall on days i want to travel. But since the bus driver's are normally happy to drop us off before the station, its a shorter walk home :)

Did you expect them to promote another format, when they can make money selling theirs?
I'm sure that I can't just put a FAT formatted flash card in it. I'm sure that I have to use some sort of fucking evil-ass Sony piece of crap
...like it said, a Memory Stick. If you don't have a reader you can use the USB (hopefully, it will just be a usb storage device).
Or if its like the K700i I have (and you have a *lot* of time) you could use bluetooth...it uses OBEX to transfer files). Readers aren't that expensive, UK£15 (about $23) for a Belkin 8-in-1 reader, a bit more for a 15-in-1. In linux, it will normally come up as a standard usb-storage device
