They should, and they should have to pay a fine and be fired or face long term suspension. But they won't. But the evidence should still not be thrown out. Telling me something doesn't exist because of a bureaucratic rule is stupid. However letting the law enforcement officers who broke the law by trespassing keep their jobs and not be punished is also stupid. Firing them is a better solution to these kinds of issues than throwing out evidence. If cops know they'll lose their jobs, they won't do this, so no illegal search. As it is they'll keep trying and getting away with it a lot because the only ones punished when they are caught is society; not them nor the criminals. This throw out the evidence solution is a lose lose lose proposition for everyone though. Society is punished, the cops who broke the law aren't, and the criminals aren't either. Evidence no matter how it is found should still be admissible. It is just an extension of 'all data wants to be free'.

No you can't pre-clear a trip to Canada while still in the U.S. Fortunately, pretty much any airport you can fly to in Canada with anything from a 737 or bigger has customs officers. There are a few that don't but since Canada has a relatively small population and it is mostly concentrated around urban centres, so the majority of arrivals are close to where you need to go.

It used to be 'This Old House'. Now it's "This Old Mansion". I don't think their renos reflect the average person's home by any measure. You can't base what an average person does to renovate based on that show. I stopped watching when it started getting as ridiculous as it is.

I have a cousin who renovated two 100+ year old homes for a fraction of what those guys spend. He lived in the first for something like 10 or 12 years. He renovated the second one in the early 90s and still lives there (it is an old farmhouse built in the 1880s or 1890s that is now part of an older subdivision that grew around it). But the heavy work isn't all that can be done to save. For example they found a nice granite counter top and island top that was used in a demonstration kitchen and was close enough to what they needed to only need a bit cut off the end (they looked for something like this, they didn't stumble on it... these are things you do to save money).

Of course if you aren't capable of using a hammer and saw, then you need a lot of money to spend on a contractor (or if you have a lot of money to spend that you don't need elsewhere, and your priorities dictate you don't want to do it yourself). FWIW, my cousin and his wife did almost all the work themselves, and he is a math teacher. The kicker is that the job was done so well that it was used as a demonstration home by the government as to how to properly renovate a home using energy efficient materials and insulation. The inspectors visited at a number of points during the work to make sure it met the criteria (he had to apply up front and was given a grant to offset some of the cost on successful completion). He did a good job.

Maybe the OP could volunteer on a couple of Habitat For Humanity projects to get some experience working on homes if they need to learn a bit first. In the meantime watch out for the many contractors who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground or who just like to cut corners and rip off the customer.

Some guy without a clue? More like some guy who has been using computers more years than your IQ. Multmonitor support sucks in Linux. You probably are one of the retards who keeps saying Microsoft sucks when it can automatically figure out what monitor you have even if you just plugged it in to a running system, and then support it in twin view. It can also support full screen games properly when you have more than one monitor, and could do it for almost as long as Linux has been around. X almost never gets it right to this day and forces you to log off and restart the x server and even then fucks up full screen gaming unless you want to fuck around like hell with configuration. And personally, I would rather use the system than have to figure out how to either rebuild it or reconfigure it all the time. That is not a useful system for average day to day use. So I use Linux only for software development and anything that requires any complicated work to systems running Windows or Mac. KDE multimonitor support can't even remember its multimonitor configuration from session to session. You're a fucking git who obviously believes personal attacks are valid arguments. So I reply in kind. But I also provide examples. What you provide is no better than the drool that leaks from the corner of your mouth. And I still use KDE, albeit on VM on my Win 7 box. So yeah, it's about time X cleans up its act. You should too numb nuts.

But then again, if the system allows this, is it corrupt or just not very good? Either way it needs to change. The American paranoid gun freaks need to stop worrying about their need to fight the government and start looking at those that are paying off the politicians. Regardless, sadly the point holds a lot of truth, don't tell anyone because in the U.S. world of the internet, the adage 'no good deed goes unpunished' holds more water than all the oceans of the world combined.

After the LG Optimus 2x (P999, G2x for T-Mobile) I won't ever touch an LG product again. After selling a bunch, they totally abandoned it. When Samsung (and others) started offering Gingerbread upgrades, LG was super late to the game and seemed to not want to offer it all. Personally I'm not sure they ever did since I went to cyanogenmod 7 before that, many months after gingerbread was generally available on Samsung devices. And forget about Ice Cream Sandwich. Meanwhile this is a very powerful phone so that is not the issue. It seems like they would rather force you to buy a new model than allow an upgrade to the OS. I put cynaogenmod for gingerbread on mine (C7) but the ICS (C9) doesn't have any official cyanogenmod support for the P999 and the unofficial one has issues with things like video. I have come to the conclusion that with new smartphones whether the hardware is the best or not (within limits), the software and upgrade support is more important. I think LG is more concerned with forcing you to buy a newer model than supporting existing devices. I think they don't agree with the notion that a happy customer will be a return customer. I won't be returning for any of their products.

As much as you'd like to believe it, you're not that important to anyone that they need minute by minute updates. And a weekend is not that long. Enjoy where you're at, people can wait a day or two for the update. Of course if you're that egotistical or insecure that you believe people can't do without you for a couple days then knock your socks off; keep your head down so that you aren't paying attention to where you are and enjoying it, and missing the point of the trip. If your point is that you want to share the experience, how can you experience anything when you think it is so important to be constantly looking at and typing into a gadget? People need to stop looking at the world through a video camera and looking at it themselves.
