...Which is why I flinch whenever I walk in the street and realise that people aren't wearing crushed-velvet jackets with enormous collars and bell-bottom corduroy trousers.
The combination of your advanced years and requirement for multiple open windows tells me that you must be a professional. No MacBook for you grandpa, off to the MacBook Pro section with you.
It's not the same as before, because since this is an open format disabled users/developers can actually write an application that will work splendidly well with screen readers etc. Indeed they can write apps that are specifically tailored for these interfaces.
To be honest with you, I don't know how to spend that much vacation time.
Try hard to work it out, honestly. This is your life, you only get one, your vacation time is the part of your life that you can use to explore the world, new activities and meet new people. You don't want to be sitting on your death bed regretting the time you spent twiddling your thumbs.
I know this comes across as tremendously patronising, but the truth is that sometimes you have to put some effort in to make the most of your leisure time - but it is an effort worth making.

No. I think that the people who normally don't play games will think the whole things is very cute thank-you-very-much once the see the kooky wii animations on TV.
In the cop genre, I think Hill Street Blues was probably the first to use Verité techniques. I think it works pretty well in BSG, but then I like the style. It also worked well in Firefly.
The difference is, with Windows and Mac OS you have to understand how to address your letter, buy a stamp and post it in a post box.
With Linux it sometimes feels you have to also understand the technical specifications of the sorting machines used at the local sorting office, understand the logistics of how one sorting office moves mail to the remote sorting office (including the grade of fuel that the cargo aircraft use) and know the name of the postman or woman who will be shoving the letter through the door at the far end.
No wonder that when a n00b arrives with the question 'so how do I get a letter delivered' the answer is >sigh read the manual.
1. The business climate is different 2. The ASPs tried to host apps that hadn't really been designed to run over the Net. The new generation is using apps that have been specifically been written with that in mind.
I'm not sure I believe the hype, but at least get the author's points right.
I originally bought a Mac because I wanted to tinker with Unix and because I wanted to edit family movies and burn to DVD.
The iLife bundle, including iPhoto, Garageband and iWeb are bundled with new Macs and make the machine a nifty appliance. Oh, and it runs a nicer version of Office than Windows (bar Outlook).
So there is plenty to give tinkerers instant gratification.
Compare that with setting up a dual boot Linux machine. I did that once, to play with. Never actually did anything with it though since I didn't have the time to get it properly configured.

And goddamn it people, where are your mullets?
I thought the same thing. The fact that a Narus box was being used was definitely mentioned in the original coverage of this issue.
I suppose it's a question of whether a person values philosophy over functionality, or vice versa.

I like that idea.
I believe they reward contributors by giving them free access to a really good Internet search engine.

Most of the licenses need to be paid for on a yearly basis with the government.
... curious.
Can you give a source for that, or am explanation? It seems
It doesn't do index marking? damn no good for me :-(
Looking at the BBC site, I suspect that the comparison is indeed between the U.S and England. Scotland's health stats are quite horrid.

Have you made the trek to Ceské Budejovice yet?
It's worth it.
It is a stupid name
Almost as stupid as the "iPod"
No. I think that the people who normally don't play games will think the whole things is very cute thank-you-very-much once the see the kooky wii animations on TV.
His combination of vision, drive, cult-like fanatacism, and titanic ego kept it going
I hear that Scott McNealy is looking for a job.

Dad? I didn't know you posted here.
they'll get it through somehow
Oh yes, because the Brits are really going to vote for it.
I'm suddenly reminded of IBM's determination to make OS/2 Warp a "better Windows than Windows" and what a triumph that turned out to be.
Of course, there was precious little native OS/2 software about and Warp was absolutely horrible to use, so the parallels aren't exact.
Nonetheless.
I would have to say that 1st Contact was one of my favourites; well plotted and scripted and with a real sense of danger.
So there is nothing wrong with prequel stories per se, they just have to be strongly plotted.
Something just triggered my tautology alarm.
To examine you analogy more closely.

The article makes 2 points:
1. The business climate is different
2. The ASPs tried to host apps that hadn't really been designed to run over the Net. The new generation is using apps that have been specifically been written with that in mind.

No mod points, but that made me snigger out loud. Well played sir
You're not factoring in the applications.

Ah, understood now.
