I'm running Firefox 2 with AdBlock with Filterset.G and I got a screen overlay ad, not necessarily a pop up ad. But even more annoying was the video advertisement that started up and playing music.

  5. Re:What about Sony / BMG's existing DRM? on Sony's New Nagging Copy Protection · · Score: 1

The thing is, I don't want a hack to listen to an "enhanced" CD. What I really want is the old fashioned, standard Compact Disk that I have fair use to make a legal back up (an mp3 file).

I won't purchase a CD that has a SunnComm sticker on it because it is supporting DRM.

Instead, I've been poking around with eMusic and getting legal MP3 files from the indie/underground scene. And the music is a bit more refeshing. :)

  6. What about Sony / BMG's existing DRM? on Sony's New Nagging Copy Protection · · Score: 3, Insightful

I usually buy about 50 - 70 albums per year. I listen to 75% of my music on an iPod at work, an additional 15% listening to these CDs in my car, and 10% listening to my legally ripped collection of mp3 files on my home PC.

Sony / BMG are making CDs using SunnComm's MediaMaxx that require a software end user licence agreement (EULA) to listen to on a computer, and they can not be ripped into an MP3 or an AAC file. Hence I have no way to listen to these albums on my iPod. I don't believe in agreeing to a EULA to listen to these songs on my home PC, so I can't use these CDs on my PC. And to pay $12-$15 for a CD that I can only listen for twenty minutes on the way to work or doing errands is crazy.

Why is the industry shooting itself in the foot by driving away loyal customers? I want to give bands like Velvet Revolver, Kings of Leon, and the Foo Fighters my hard earned money, but their record labels are not giving me a product that I find acceptable... A good old fashioned compact disk.

I could very well be wrong, but I believe it's the same behavior in Internet Explorer. It's been a while since I've used IE, but I thought I remember going into the advanced options to enable printing background stuff.

My guess on the printing background stuff is that people still have black and white printers, so they might not be able to read something correctly with a background on it.

With regards to wrapping, I am pretty sure that it is dependent on how the site is coded. Sites tend to be developed 800 pixels wide (or 800+) so it looks normal on a 800x600 monitor. The problem is that your monitor looks nothing like your printer. However, if you specify a percentage in your table sizes (for example 90%) in your code rather than a hard 800, then the text should wrap with the monitor and on the printer. Also you don't have that large devoid unused space that you find on some sites that are made for 800x600 monitors.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but I've found a few options under File > Page Setup to fix my initial printing problems.

    1. There is "shrink to fit page" option that makes the page print the width of the HTML.

    2. I also like to use the "Print Background (colors and images)" option.

With these options set, every page printed looks the same as it does in the browser.

Do you guys have the theme set up using small icons? This morning I went back and tried it with the big icons, and it looks ten times better. Keep your fingers crossed that the new graphic artists will bring the quality up to surpass Qute's high standards.

Every time someone sings and manages to hold a note for 5 seconds, the crowd goes wild! That seems to be the key to being a popular artist. Not whether they can harmonize or have timing.

The thing that cracked me up this season is that the teenagers vote and they actually voted off the people that actually had the most talent.

What does that tell you? Teenagers shouldn't be in charge of the music industry!

Why not let bands and artists develop their music, so that we may appreciate it down the road, rather than making music to match the current trend that will be tired at this time next year?
