I think Steve Jobs has the edge here too, but for another (though related) reason. Apple tends to adopt new technology before it becomes mainstream features in the Wintel world. For example IEE1394, wireless networking, 64bit processor, hard drive mp3 players, wide-screen "media notebooks" and bluetooth.

I think if you look at the features on apple machines today such as 64bit processors, back-lit keyboard on notebooks and the one-button mouse (ok I jest) it's a good indicator of where the wintel world will be in the near future.

To me, Kerry has to prove that he can do a better job then Bush on the Iraq issue among others. I am no staunch Bush supporter but Kerry has yet to convince me he can do better.

Most people make their decisions emotionally.

This may be true for "people." I don't know all of Sun's products but as far as servers and workstations go, no serious corporation is going to make a significant purchasing decision based on emotion or buzzwords.

I won't deny that there are non-techinical reasons for purhcasing a product (such as cost, familiarity, and political reasons) and Marketing plays a huge role. They are still going to look at the actual product though.

I agree completely. As it stands though, the two parties have too much of a hold on the political system. In order to be elected, you almost have to run as one.

This could happen, but it will almost have to come very gradually. That or a possible major issue that splits both parties down the middle. I don't see that happening though. I was kind of hoping the Iraq war might. It seems that it created a slight temporary rift but it's back to the same-old-same-old politics again.

I know I'm going against the crowd, but has anyone found anything quite as good as MusicMatch's Smart Tagging capability?

Musicmatch has had that for years and I am very suprised that none of the other major players have picked it up. That was THE reason that I had musicmatch installed on my machine. I used it to tag downloaded mp3s then winamp to play them.

The "Tag from internet" (or something like that) was also incredibly useful for getting missing album information such as (album name and date of release) and album artwork.

In terms of features, it was at the top and perhaps still is. The non-standard interface was one of the worst that I have ever seen and the resource usage was entirely too high.

After I got my ipod, a bug in the bundled version cut a letter of of each field in the tag of every mp3 in my collection on each sync. It was off my machine after that.
