It's marketing bullshit, but it is accurate. It asseses if you have the right to access the file. If you can't prove you have the right it won't open the file. It's Managing your Rights to access a Digital file.
I would expect this from the mainstream, but this is Slashdot, we should know that you shouldn't take anything you know at face value. It's obvious that the Sun goes round the flat Earth until you investigate them.
Sounds like "This shows nothing, can someone do a real trail?" to me. There has probably been enough research, it does not work, it can not work, it is not science..
"but you are not a sack of chemical reactions gone wrong.", That is exactly what we all are. Just a bunch of chemicals. There is nothing else, no magic, no soul, nothing.
"It doesn't matter that homeopathy (sic) is outside of science when health to a large part is outside of science." What part of health care is outside of science?
Is it not just a faster way to get what you want? Violent people will be incited to violence, kind people will be incited to kindness, racist people will be incited to be racist. Run another experiment that looks for evidence of co-operation, that is probably correlated to facebook use as well. If you only look for bad outcomes, you will only get bad outcomes.
No it's the one where you don't have to hunt down the plastic discs with easily scratched metal paint.
I started using steam not long after day 1 with HL2. I bought a ton of games back then almost all physical media (no other choice). Not a single one will work now, combination of no CD/DVD in the desktop, scratched plastic, degradation over time or just lost them in moves. I played HL2 a few months ago, and it installed quicker and easier than ever before. Will steam still be around in 20 years? Who knows, what I do know is that I do know that if I bought a game on DVD I won't be able to play it in 20 years.
You sound like someone complaining the this new fangled stone tablets stop you owning the stories that you tell from memory. (you never "owned" any games in the first place, did you read the licence agreement?)
"those that steal my data"... I thought we'd won the argument over this, your data isn't stolen, you still have it. Just like you aren't stealing a film by downloading it. That they obtain our data without permission is egregious enough, you don;t need to add emotive language to hammer the point home.
I never want to go back to the old days when you had physical media. The number and cash value of games that I couldn't finish or play again because a disc got scratched is higher than I even want to know. Only the other day I read an article about a game I haven't played in over a decade. In the old days I would have to locate the disc and pray to the flying spaghetti monster that it didn't have a scratch. With steam I was playing it within minutes.
You might be right about the poor, it's the Precarity that could/will turn if things get worse. They know what they have to lose if things get even a little worse. As James once said "If I'd never seen such riches I could live with being poor"
The left don't want to increase the umber of BMEs, but increase the standard of living for all. Apart from that you're right for the unimaginative, the more imaginative leftie can re-frame arguments in a way that that the right wing can go along with. It's not about immigration it's outsourcing expensive childrearing and education and importing workers at a reduced cost. It's not about removing drug laws, it's about removing government interference and helping small businesses thrive. It's not about wealth redistribution it's about increasing consumer confidence and spending...
A well armed citizenry is a check against our own government becoming oppressive.
Look at history how many times after a government disarmed its populace, that not long after, it became a dictatorship and there was massive bloodshed.
Ask David Koresh how that goes when up against a non military government organisation. Against the armed forces it'll be over a lot quicker. This hasn't been a good argument for a very long time. The self defence angle is about as good an argument. Here in the UK we don't live in a post apocalyptic wasteland where the weak are picked off by the strong.
It's just returning to the festival it always was before the christians stole it. Yule was always an orgy of food and drink, a midwinter festival so strong it defies the self-flagellation of christianity. A festival older than some magic gas raping a teenager.
There is no gap for gods to fit into any more. No I can't prove that gods don't exist, but it's quite easy to prove that the bible is not entirely accurate as it contradicts itself thus lacks basic logical consistency. Religion fails a basic scientific test of the null hypothesis. The null hypothesis is that there is no god. There is insufficient evidence to reject that null, therefore god does not exist (P0.05, a lot less with the evidence to hand P=0). Once you have a single piece of evidence for omniscient omnipotent entities we can discuss this again.
Never mind the fact that half the gospels spend an inordinate amount of time detailing Joseph’s lineage to prove that the bloke they say was cuckolded by an invisible being was related in some way to the royal line. Neither of which agree.

Some hot properties up there so I've heard.
Wow is it that long? I guess it is, I fancy some grits now for some reason (I'm from the UK so don;t even know what they are...)
If you think they've got that power, why didn't they cover up the cover up?
Not true, here in the UK if you want to pay the cash you can either go private or go to another country.
Got here from Feedly, which used my reader data...

Still just chemicals in the body...

Hi Ivan bot
Not our fault you guys left the motherland before all the "U"s were issued out.

They have the means of production, it's distribution that's their problem.
Like the sig, or should that be Spigg?

Happy to if I had even 10% of BT#s profit.
