If that class of people are self selecting and have a long standing record of lying to protect members the worst examples of that class, it's fine. Once the police stand up for law and order and clear out root and branch the criminals in uniform, they don't automatically get respect from me.
Once they have earned respect, they'll get it.
Didn't we have the same argument with Discovery? The first series of that was much better than the first of any Trek, TNG took about 3 years to settle.
Saying that, I'm not enjoying the new Dr, Who as much, but I am happy to let it settle.
The end of "Last of the Timelords" was a low point, everyone prays to the doctor who through magic made everything better. Last night's episode was bad doctor who, but at least it didn't need a literal leap of faith to defeat the bad guy.
It's not really gelling with me, Rosa was good, and I liked the spiders one but the last one about partition was just some stuff that happened, the same thing would've played out if the doctor wasn't there. I don't regard myself as sexist, it's nothing to do with the actors (I was much more excited that some one from West Yorkshire was going to be the doctor, a doctor with my accent! I won't say I was glad a woman got the role, it's not important to me, whose to say that Time Lords only have two sexes anyway). The story lines just aren't grabbing my attention. Perhaps it's because the pool of episodes is smaller I notice the clunkers more, that and nostalgia (I instantly remember "blink" vividly, but had to look up "Fear Her"). Perhaps I and it have changed and it's not for me any more (hey it's a kids programme it hasn't been for me for quite a while).
I'll keep watching though, it could just be first series blues.
I'd bank a good old fashioned UK pub would beat them, especially before the liberalising of the drinking laws. Get a hand full of pints at last orders and neck them before 11:30 kicking out time. An experienced drinker could get a half dozen in that time, a hardened one a lot more. Things changed after the licensing laws allowed longer opening hours, but I'd wager anyone in the Bigg Market, Newcastle against all-comers.
I predicted years ago that humans would fail the Turing test before AI passes it. Most on-line posting is of such a low quality I'd hope it's mostly bots. Otherwise I fear for humanities future.
I wasn't tempted at all, same reason. If there was an open source version that would take third party pods, or even home made ones it might be something I could consider, probably still not though terrible waste of packaging. It's not just that there's only one supplier, but how long will that design last. Will the next version have a strange notch that makes all the pods I've got unusable?
As a statistician I'm offended by that. (It's "Lies, damned lies and Statistics" by the way).
Statistics can't lie, they can be incorrect but not lies.
People lie with statistics, they miss label, miss attribute, say that the statics show something it doesn't etc. But stats, if calculated properly can only describe the data.
So is this something that happens all the time, and they luckily got them this time? Or are they the Russian "Spies Like US?" Judging by the press conference of the two spies who failed to kill Skripal, the latter appears to be more probable.
Printed copies might be redundant now, I agree. The post is wrong about that. My problem is that the documentation is either not there at all, or so inadequate it's of little to no value.
The printed manual would describe the initial state. Changes to that state would be pdf addenda included in the update. There could be some visual clue to indicate what things have changed on the phone.
I got a ZX spectrum as a kid, it had, if I remember 3 manuals, and a tape to instruct you how to work the thing, cpu architecture, full BASIC and machine code programming manual, memory stack description (RAMTOP!) I read those for years and it gave me a good grounding in how computers work from metal to screen. (OK I mostly played Jet Set Willy and Sabre Wulf but still).
I got a pair of bluetooth headphones last week, it has a "multi-function" button. I describes how to pair the device, but nothing else I occasionally accidental dial the last number and I have no idea why.
I don't expect a £25 headphone to have the same quality of manual as a £125 (about £350 in today's money) computer, but it is lacking in detail.
"This method works perfectly in the Military (has for literal centuries), and adapts nicely to the dev world."
Does it though? or is it confirmation bias. If you chew them out when they are at their worst they improve. Well they were going to improve anyway, the aggressive attitude towards them may have helped, or it may have hindered.
You own the DVD, you purchased the right to watch the contents. You can do what you like with the DVD, use it as a coaster or a small shiny frisbee. What you don;t have is the right to watch the film if it's outside of the restrictions noted at purchase.
There are a lot of things that you buy a licence to use. When you but a book in this country, you buy the rights to read it. If you throw it away you can't demand a new one. If you buy a DVD or a CD it's the same, you can't legally resell them. If you buy a leasehold, you can't do what you want with the property and have to hand it back at the end of the lease. It's down to the buyer to research what it is that they are buying.

Can I get a "lowest, most disgusting strata of society" badge? I think there's a market for them.

Good points, (Trek deals with Doctor Who like morals. Who got there first by a few years but with time travel I guess all bets are off)

Do you watch war films and cheer for the wrong side? Those with the skulls on their caps are the baddies.
Is pig shit kosher?
Did he break your keyboard too? it appears your cap lock needs checking.

You forgot the bible, #1 in murder and violence inspiration.

As good as 3D,,,
I quite fancy some cuddled eggs though...
