When a specific currency isn't specified on messages in forums such as slashdot, it usually implies either USD or the rough equivalent price in US dollars. In this case the latter since the service was in France. If the original poster indeed meant euros despite not mentioning it, then the 29.99 USD would be even cheaper by comparison.
In my post about the HK connection, had I posted $29.99 without mentioning the currency, would you have automatically assumed it was in HK dollars?
For the same $29.99 USD you can get 100mbps symmetrical (100m both uplink and downlink) internet in Hong Kong. Comes with phone and IPTV as well. They also throw in an Ipod Nano if you sign the 2 year service contract.
I think the submitter purposely tried to fool the/. staff into publishing it because that article has a news date of EXACTLY one year ago (same month and date with the year easily overlooked).
You are correct. MS said that about a half a year ago. That story was covered in a previous Slashdot article. I actually posted a "mark my word" prediction that IE will have tabbed browsing within 12 months. So far it's been 6 months.:) Tabbed browsing not important
Hong Kongers love their market economy and freedoms, often citing it as an example of why HK is a better place to live and work than other rivals in the region like Singapore and Shanghai.
Yes. In fact Hong Kong is ranked #1 as the freest economy in the world. Singapore is #2. Strangely enough the USA is only ranked #12.
While I think he would make a great President, I think his attempt at persuading the U.N. regarding Iraq's "WMD" has reduced his chances significantly even if his wife would let him run. It is unfortunate because I think he was coerced into doing it in the first place.

It appears that only Foxnews is carrying this article on the net at the moment (based on checking Google News).
You might have missed the main points of the article. Among them, the article emphasized that MSN and Yahoo will now probably copy Google's features and business model.
The question is how much of Google's GMail's features are patented, how the patents might hold up in court, and how easy is it to circumvent the patents.
You know it's funny that you mentioned the Lotus Excel (82-92) because when MS made Excel back in 1985 the #1 spreadsheet company at the time was called Lotus!
Note that the author of the article "Paul" is associated with the company (based on his email address). But at least he's honest in not trying to hide that info.
This got me thinking philosophically. Are today's kids luckier than we were as kids growing up? Did we derive more enjoyment out of our low-tech toys compared to a kid nowadays with the latest games on a PS2 or XBOX? I tend to think the latter but I'm not sure. And I'm 38 now.
probably because it's the default search engine for Firefox :P

"site down - will be up and fully functional within a day or two"
/. wouldn't let me post otherwise.
FWIW, those are the headlines (in all caps) on their site as of 3:53 AM GMT on June 3rd.
Had to convert to all lowercase because
It would be quite a big coincidence if they were really shut down after a hoax shut down at *EXACTLY* the same time last year.

Wouldn't 3D versions of the movie require that the original footage be shot using dual lenses that are spaced about 3 inches apart?
I assume CVS will refurbish the camcorder for resale after you turn it in for processing.
Will the value of the color screen and the memory be worth more than $30? If so, wouldn't people buy them all up and take the parts for resale?

Tabbed browsing not important
Funny how quickly MS's stance changes. I have 6 more months to go with my prediction. Let's see if I make it in time! :)
Features such as tabbed browsing are not important to IE users 11/12/04

Wonder if it comes with audio so you can hear the gun fire and the deer mumble "you fucking lagger!".

No, the Lotus SmartSuite had a spreadsheet program named 123. And we were still buying it in the mid 90s in the military.
Actually he was talking about the car.
This Brief History of Spreadsheets might be of interest to other readers. It talks about Visicalc, Lotus 1-2-3, and MS Excel.
You know it's funny that you mentioned the Lotus Excel (82-92) because when MS made Excel back in 1985 the #1 spreadsheet company at the time was called Lotus!
I'm not sure that car Excelled at anything
It Excelled in price at the time.
It's worth noting that Hyundai made a car line called Excel back in 1985. I'm not sure which came first, the spreadsheet or the car.
India will always have a natural advantage over countries like Russia and Ukraine in terms of American IT outsourcing because they can speak English.
This project is probably meant for defense against China but they only pointed out North Korea for diplomatic reasons. :P

From the CNET article:
English reiterated that features such as tabbed browsing are not important to IE users.
You can mark my word that IE will have tabbed browsing within 12 months from now.
