Then I realize, hey, I'd NEVER post stolen code or offer stolen code for sale on my website. Its friggin stupid. Its obviously stolen and obviously illegal and completely traceable to me. I'd expect to have the FBI knocking on my door if I did something so stupid. Like many criminals, this guy didn't cause any real harm but completely lacks judgement. Now he'll suffer a bit for it.

TFA describes many ways in which Vista will be more secure by design than the security-patched XP. For example, more attention to user privileges, sandboxing IE, a firewall that looks at outgoing traffic, integrated spyware checking.

I could pretty much care less about Vista until the games I want to play won't run on anything else, but you can't doubt that M$ will be paying more attention to security in the fundamental design of Vista than they did in XP.

Just a couple nights ago I had a problem with a Microsoft title (AOE3) and finally was able to net connect when switching to an admin account. The developers simply don't test in this mode enough.

Here's a response from Atari when I complained about having to play UT2004 in my admin account. You can't win when this is they don't even consider this a bug:

From: Tech4 Subject: RE: Unreal Tournament 2004 - Windows XP : USA : This game, like most of its type, requires Full admin access to play, and can often conflict with third party software such as firewalls or virus scanners. But with the vPod, finally, I can watch video on the go like I used to listen to music. I can catch up on my TV while jogging and mountain biking, mowing the lawn, painting the house, driving to work. Even while at work!

A similar thing happened when I bought my Sharp Zaurus SL-5600 near its end of life. They ran out of the buggy PXA250 processors and started shipping the last units with the improved PXA255. It was even marked on the box, but since most people mail-ordered the units it was a crap-shoot what you got. I got the old unit, and was a bit disappointed even though I did get what I paid for. I suspect Mac Mini buyers who don't get the lucky upgrade will feel the same way. They may even return their units and try again.

But Kismet, Opera, an OTP password generator, ssh, wake-on-lan are very useful tools to have in your pocket.

My biggest gripe with the little box is that it could have been a decent mp3 player (it supports ogg and wma too with plugins). But the UI on all the available media players sucks so bad, I had to buy a separate player. How trivial it could have been to make an ipod-like interface with the thumb cursor control on the Zaurus but instead they require use of the stylus.
