    mechanical systems tend to have symptoms, electrical tends to work just fine untill that solder point that wasn't done quite right comes off and pegs your wheels into a full left turn on the highway.

    I work for the government (so i'm getting a kick out of these replies)

    my boss is great, but she would have my head on a platter if i took a disk or flash drive full of confidential information, after i retrieved my head from said platter i would face criminal charges as well. you just don't do that sort of thing.

    it doesn't happen accidentally unless there are HUGE (Like Xbox) flaws in policy and procedures, why would any employee be bringing personal storage in and hooking it up, it's not like the iPod jumps out of your pocket and plugs itself in, you have to bring the cable, hook it up then put files on.

    you are assuming that the AI is a true AI, instead a well designed expert system could classify enemies. using detailed radar or video analysis you can search for fast moving parts since most weapons will be fast movine, then automatically evade what appears to be the range of motion of said moving part. sure it's more complex than a roomba but it's not impossible.

    i tell you what, i'll have a reactor built in my neighborhood and you can have a maser target in yours. not only that but i'll even sell you the anti-radiation suit since i'll never need it, and you'll be getting crisped a few times a year without it.

    i do believe GP is right though that one day, unless both sides can work out their visceral hatred the Palestinians will find a way to unleash something terrible on israel.

    unless we go with government funded drug research (which i wouldn't be opposed to) drug companies do have the right both legally and morally to charge what they want for chemicals they invent. without these "evil" companies those drugs wouldn't exist at all.

    as for people "needing the drugs to live"

    these are people who are doomed to death naturally and these companies invest billions in finding ways to save them, expecting a return on investment is their moral obligation so they may continue to find new treatments.

    if you let the savvy users run multi-network clients, your less savvy users won't jump ship when their friends stop using the service.

    nobody wants to have several chat programs running at once, and it's easier to keep your noobs herded into profitable areas when they aren't being encouraged by their friends to switch services.
