    ...that is HORRIBLE

    internal email should be done as an internal web mail solution with storage and backups centralized, not shifted out to whatever desktop an employee happens to be at right now. what if an important email is downloaded right before a power failure or the magic smoke comes out of the user's computer.

    and work does not get done with viruses and worms rampaging on the network. work also doesn't get done when the boss goes to jail.

    if the machine hooked up to that DSL line wasn't ever conencted to company property or networks i don't see the problem.

    it doen't track downloads, it marks files sent to it specifically to be watermarked

    pay by year is a good thing. it REMOVES incentive for the vendor to push bullshit upgrades that harm system usability. it also removes incentive for the customer to hold off on needed upgrades due to cost concerns.

    i think you could fix it by having the recursive function do it's work 2-3 times per recursion. i'll take a look at the code in a few minutes after marketing to see if that would be feasable

    the biggest thing in favor of aboitic oil generation is that the likelyhood of useful energy containing material being allowed to sink that far into the earth is juist silly, something would have found a way to eat it on it's way down.

    the energy coming from the heat of the planet is more reasonable, though it doesn't give us an out on conserving oil, since even with abiotic production there is no way to know how much to expect to be produced at a given time.

    unless they have changed in the past year they still use removable keycaps, i just pulled off my F5 key to verify this

    as of last march or so they still have removable keycaps and are solidly built.

    i haven't done a side-by-side comparison with a vintage keyboard so it may be lighter but it certainly isn't light. compare with every other modern keyboard which weighs practically nothing, and losing 2 lbs is worth gaining USB support, which is vital if you use it with a laptop or other newer machine lacking a mini DIN connector

    i have a folder of shortcuts placed in my Path list, then i shortened each shortcut name to just a few characters

    fox for firefox
    ooo for open office
    gs for gnumeric spreadsheet
    look for look at lan
    cyg for cygwin
    rd for remote desktop


    doing it this way makes it easy and fast to launch apps without looking through the start menu to find them. i also have the full names as second shortcuts in case i forget what shorthand i used for a particular application

    if you cite encyclopedia britannica for anything other than a gradeschool paper you deserve an automatic F

    no college professor i have ever heard of and very vew highschool and middle school teachers will accept an encyclopedia as a source.

    btw wikipedia is actually more accountable than dead tree encyclopedias. in wikipedia you can track down who contributed a certain piece of information in an article and you can compare it to other information contributed by that person. in a dead tree volume you cannot because all the articles are usually unsigned.
