    by full support i meant it wasn't a crippled stripped down driver with noting but basic rendering support.

    getting features to work reliably in all variants of linux will take some time but it will be much faster than reverse engineering a binary blob or an undocumented interface

    Gootube's protection has nothing to do with Telcoms/common carrier and everything to do with the DMCA.

    before the DMCA you could in fact be sued for having infringing material posted to your service. now you cannot be if you comply with a porperly sent DMCA takedown letter, or never recieve a properly sent DMCA takedown letter

    Intel has stepped up to the plate on that, they have open sourced their video drivers with full support of all features. granted Intel graphics isn't what most people think of when they think of gaming, but stable and functional drivers with a medeocre card is better than constant problems and crashes with a high end card and a binary blob as a device driver.

    there are ways of making foobar look very interesting, you can move controls around and change what information is displayed, and how.
    foobar looks very simple but is probably one of the most moddable music players out there

    Intel is releasing open drivers with full graphics support, i don't know about the other games, but WoW runs just fine on my Laptop with an Intel 915GM.

    multiplayer games like SSBM benefit from rumble, it lets you know that you are taking hits even if you didn't notice it on screen

    User controlled DRM is not a problem at all, in fact it is a very powerfulsecurity tool. the problem is when you have to turn over the keys to your kingdom to microsoft, apple, the RIAA, etc.

    that shipment is likely to be on a massive container ship carrying merchandise from thousands of manufacturers.

    OTOH hiring someone to throw a handful of low level radioactive stones into the PS3 shipping container could delay things a bit while homeland security rips the whole thing apart looking for nuclear weapons.

    mapquest never works. unless you want to find every closed road and construction site between where you are and your destination. for that it works great

    GIMP will never be able to pay for the licenses to distribute the color systems freely. however with the new color model hopefully they could develop a proprietary plugin which GIMP users could purchase to add pantone or trumatch color support.

    I meant in terms of performance and price. macs still have a large market share but if the industry was reset today they probably wouldn't because windows PC's are cheaper and just as capable if not better.

    if you are doing anything serious with the GIMP you should be using convert text to path anyways so you can use it as a selection and do lines, fills and shadows on it.
