    there is nothing wrong with windmills, building them in a city would be economically inefficeint you can get far more land for the same price out in the rural areas.

    no, IBM shares some liability if there was a lawsuit. "but it was easy" is not a criminal defense, just like if a bank left a loaded armored truck with the keys in the ignition and nobody guarding it you would still go to prison for grand theft if you took it.

    i wouldn't endorse actually doing sucha thing, but it is more subtle and harder to prove it was malicious than a dead mans switch or something actively checking for the existance of that account.


    if you are going to be destructive at least do it in an elegant and clever way.

    even better, set up your path variable so that your user account home directory is searched before some other permenant system directory, have a script in your home directory responsable for something fairly frequent but not constant, maybe a weekly tape backup procedure. have the identically named script in the system directory be broken, either just a subtle flaw or a catistrophic nuke. that way if they delete your account the whole thing goes boom, and it's not even your fault they broke the system when they deleted your account.

    get the word out among non-technical people, write to newspapers etc. tell people that blu-ray and HDDVD have a system that lets the publishers disable a movie or player after it has been purchased. warn people that it has a dangerous system where discs can force it to update. spread a little FUD too make it sound like you can get a virus on your bluray player from bad discs.

    point an IR laser at the side of the listening booth, you should get a decent representation of the music being listened to transmitted through vibrations in the glass or objects inside the booth, use a few lasers at various frequencies and you should be able to get a clear enough copy of the sound that a computer could clean up any errors.

    index.dat caches the contents of a folder and icon previews for previewed files such as video and image files. index.dat it what makes it possible to open huge folders full of media files without a horrendous wait *every* time you open the folder.

    aspiration is not faith, and proving it shows it wasn't a matter of faith.


    Science is very much a Religion -- because it has faith; faith that Truth is Objective. Of course the Science of Religion says that Truth is Subjective, which is equally true. Now, since one truth does not negate another truth, both of these must be accepted, in order to overcome the limitations of the Religion of Science, and the Science of Religion.

    i'd like to see religion prove their initial claims


    as for trusting senses and percieving reality, that is all a part of observation, if the percieved world is consistant enough in behavior to make hypothesis and test them, there is no need to prove that the percieved world is real untill presented with evidence otherwise.

    actually there is just as much evidence that the universe popped into existance last week. how would you know the difference between things actually happening and a carefully constructed "history" with corresponding "memories" all completed last tuesday and set in motion.

    science is based on observation and experimentation, science is NOT based on faith. certain aspects of science are observed but not explained, but that doesn't mean they are taken on faith, they are accepted as probably correct on current observation

    OTOH religion goes out of it's way to suppress and subvert new information which contradicts accepted beliefs.

    unfortunately due to the nature of science every answer spawns a dozen questions. though ID does provide a highly effective "stupid filter" if you are trying to tell if someone is stupid with as little effort as possible. alo just listen for words like "evolutionist or darwinist" you won't even have to say a word to accurately identify many people as stupid.

    get your most important photos copied onto slides, slieds have remained a constant format for a long time and a projector can be built from parts if needed, just a lens and a lightbulb for a simple unit.

    iRiver H10 are better than the ipod, the interface is different so it will take a bit of time to get used to if you are accustomed to the ipod.
