    the terminology reflects early US history with the articles of confederation, under which the states were the sovereign, this broke down because getting a bunch of independently acting sovereigns to move in the same direction is somewhat like herding kittens and unity was needed.

    what country still gives faxed documents more weight than other transmitted signatures? The US has explicitly recognized electronic signatures for years, the US is usually way the hell behind and we still use mostly mag swipe (credit) or swipe and pin (debit), nobody offers or accepts chip and pin, and we are just starting to see contactless air swipe (no pin) transactions

    harassing someone who has a restraining order on you is a good way to get locked up, carefully toeing the line of what your restraining order will let you do is a good way to get a 500 page restraining order where you have to ask the permission of the court to fart.

    we got set up with a sharepoint server quite a few months ago, as far as i know nothing has happened with it since then.

    it effectively allows semi-technical people to clumsilly administer their own versioned file repository and self contained WYSIWIG web site maker for internal sites with semi-database features.

    in short, it is a case of rope you can give to management types that is just long enough for them to hang themselves with.

    it's easier than that, my xubuntu laptop pesters me with a red triangle ! icon whenever there are updates, just like windows with a notification in the system tray, however i can say that such updates have never broken my machine, which is more than i can say for windows update

    During flight? Sounds more like an issue of radiation or, depending on when and where, the mobile data uplink getting confused as it flies through far more cells and sees far more cells than it normally would.
