This actually reminds me of the old hack to crash NT3.X, "telnet host:19|telnet host:53", which would take output from the random character generator port and pipe it to the DNS port which would then crash the DNS server and maybe the host itself. I remember making a friend scream in horror as I did this to his machine across his LAN where he thought it could only be done locally.

While I'm sure all sorts of dictionaries are lowering their standards, the fact that "ain't" hasn't made it out of the "non-standard" class even after, what, 500 years of use speaks volumes, redundant volumes, of those who use or accept "irregardless" as anything more than a nonsensical word. "nonstandard" also applies to the word "ain't" which your source states is used by the uneducated.

Regardless, you failed to quote the rest of the citation from dictionary.com:

Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.

Funny but it was Chevy that had the bad reputation for rusting back then. A former teacher once remarked that he knew someone who took extremely good care of their Vega, or the like, and in under a couple years it had a rust hole in the fender "so big you could throw a cat through it", referring to the way a cat would sprawl its legs. I see old Ford cars and trucks all the time but almost the only Chevy vehicles I see are the old collectibles, otherwise most don't seem to have survived.

Does that include the inability to accept that you should change whom you blame for the whales' dwindling numbers... like the Japanese? Nothing against the Japanese, but they(their industry) are the ones insisting that we no longer have a whale shortage and that they should be able to hunt them again. The Inuits aren't trying to make money, they're trying to put food on the table for chrissake, and they were doing this long before we arrived here and they were doing it well within the limits of the reproduction cycles of the whales(and are still doing so considering the dwindling numbers of Inuits requires much fewer whales). But we can ignore the Japanese exploiting the sea because they give us Sony? If the Japanese were to stop and the numbers of whales *continued* to decrease then I'd say you had a point but that's never been the case.

A real identity thief could make things a LOT harder and I simply wouldn't have time for it in my life, it would seriously be easier to kill myself(or the thief) than to deal with all the red tape you have to go through. The lady in the article said she often had to use 1 day per week devoted to dealing with all the after effects of the theft. I don't know about you but I don't have an extra day in my life; I have a wife, kids, 4 businesses to run and a house to maintain.

There's justifiable homicide, and then, for people like the thief in the article, there's praise-worthy homicide cause she had/has zero plans of bettering society or herself on any level other than to bring in the next batch of stolen bling.

Unfortunately I don't think this is necessarily under the racist umbrella this time. There are several factors in delivering tech support and one of them is for the customer to be able to understand the tech. If that weren't enough, try calling tech support and finding one of the smarmy mofos who think they are engineers instead of peon techs reading from a script. I've seriously had some guy, who I'll only say was from the middle east by the sound of his accent, try to tell me repeatedly that Windows was running out of resources and that's the reason I was having problems with my internet connection; I was using an SGI and was trying to report a router that was failing and told him this no less than 25 times. I blame it on their culture that they think that being in any position of power "over" you means they know everything you do not about that subject; I don't know where it comes from but it's prevalent. That doesn't mean I hate the person, but I understand fully why someone might want to talk to someone who'll actually LISTEN(and understand what you're saying) for a change. Besides, I don't need something petty like a person's accent or skin color to hate them when there are so many other good reasons to hate everyone.

Seeing as how mysql is going to eat a ton per transaction, I don't think they're going to get nearly as much as they'd like even with rather large amounts of memory.
