First of all, the word genocide does not mean what you think it means. Second of all, the prohibition was of using the 'just following orders' defense. Yes, the ones that gave the orders were liable. But, and this is what is applicable here, so was anyone committing war crimes under orders from their superiors. Not everyone following the Nazis, everyone committing crimes against humanity under orders.

  19. imagine leaving on System Admin's Unit of Production? · · Score: 1

Instead of leaving for a week, spend a week documenting what actually happened (or didn't) because you were there and imagining what else there is that could or could not happen due to your absence. After making your lists, categorize into kinds of services that have value and extrapolate from there. Now you have a list of what valued services you provide and a start of a more detailed way to categorize events and successes into what service they belong.

    For example:
    1. Server #xx load spike, killed rogue process
    2. Migrate dept #xx to using server #yy for applications
    3. New hire added to servers
    4. Rewrote procedure #xx for clarity
    5. UPS test
    6. Investigated report of fan noise
    7. Tracked down rogue wireless access point

    Server maintenance 1, 2, 3, 6
    Security 2, 4, 5, 7
    User services 2, 3, 6

OK, now there are some tasks that overlap, either divide their time, or better split into two distinct jobs and assign each part of the task according to how much it belongs in each category.

When I did this, I found that with a requirement of too much detail I was averaging about 300 tasks per week, and obviously that made for a large amount of overhead keeping track of them with such fine granularity. I asked for, and eventually got, the ability to just account for tasks taking over a half hour with that much detail and assigning all the other time proportional to how many people there were in each area.

    YMMV - HTH
