Yes, a life of marginalization, backwards social mores, lack of medicine and wealth, and no religious tolerance sounds like a grand time.

I find the whole idealization and worship of tribal peoples to be a western fetish. Idealizing them in some fantasy might be a nice psychological crutch but in reality its not quite so hot. I'm certain you wouldnt trade in your privileged and entitled life for theirs any time soon. Not to mention tribalism, historically, is nasty nasty business. I'll take a "broken sitcom" any day of the week.

Oh bullshit, socialized medicine is the solution and we've seen it work pretty well in western europe.

My ability to pay has nothing to do with my credit or money in my bank. It has everything to do if my insurance decides to screw me or screw you. An MRI I needed a couple of years ago which was supposed to be covered by insurance cost me 1500. My insurance paid them 1100. Both of those parties are just trying to screw me for cash. Instead of working with insurance companies the MRI people just pull a number out of their butts. Their inability to work with my good insurance or the insurance's inability to pay fair prices puts me in the middle of a capatalistic nightmare where my own health is used as leverage points to see who can bill the most and pay out the least. This is incredible! The most pathetic part of this was that I was told by the MRI people that if my insurance refused to pay anything they had a nice low cash price of 300 dollars. In other words theyre making money at 300, but bill 1500!

Sorry, but the only way out of this nightmare is mass socialization of medicine and getting away from the idea that my illness should make you rich.

You must be pretty blind to not see this already. Its funny how we're not supposed to notice the disparity in healthcare in the US. People from wealthier families get insurance and a lifetime of dental work. Those who dont, well, dont. They also get access to mental health professionals. Poor people dont, thus the mass of toothless, poor, sick, and crazy people. The distinction should be obvious already, adding bluetooth to someones skull isnt that much worse.

Lastly, we're cyborgs today. Our dependance on modern healthcare and our lifetime of using these technologies (vaccines, operations, dental work, etc) makes this "scary future" very real right now.

I call BS on this. If MS did this then the xbox would have been 100 dollars more, fanboys would have complained, and they still would have lost the format war. They might even have lost the console war.

First off, MS is not Sony. They dont own a movie studio and billion dollar movies. MS is always fighting off regulation and is somewhat controlled by the threat of lawsuits and the judgement against them. In Japan, Sony is a powerhouse that is encouraged by the government. Its a brand thats part of their national pride.

MS knew that HDDVD was a huge gamble when going up against Sony in the movie business and along with Toshiba and others they lost. Xbox is still pretty cheap, ironically , a much better value and success than the ps3. So Sony lost the console and got the movies. Good for them. Here's to more Sony style managerial decisions like spyware on my discs, proprietary everything out the wazoo, and huge premiums.

Hell, lots of companies use this to get rid off products that are market failures and that would actually cost them money to dispose of properly!
