Here goes, sorry about the references in Icelandic.
In 2010 an unmarked laptop was discovered in an empty office at Alingi connected to the local network, the parliament offices are adjunct to the main building. The computer was running but after being shut down by employees of Alingi it self destruct and forensics did not come up with anything. ( http://www.dv.is/frettir/2011/1/20/grunur-um-njosnir-althingi-dularfull-tolva-fannst-i-audu-herbergi/). Around the same time that the computer was discovered Julian Assange was working in Iceland cutting the videos that would become Collateral Murder along with member of parlament Birgitta Jonsdottir and a group of other people on of which has been known in Iceland as Siggi hakkari (Siggi the hacker) a 17 year old boy with, well truth be said, very limited morals (http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2013/06/wikileaks-mole/all/) Siggi was at the time giving information to the FBI as well as running for Wikileaks and running his own scams, stealing money (http://www.visir.is/-og-bdquo;siggi-hakkari-og-ldquo;-grunadur-um-milljonasvik/article/2013130609737) and is now applealing a case where he was sentenced for sexual crimes against a seventeen year old boy (http://www.dv.is/frettir/2013/11/19/siggi-braut-sautjan-ara-pilt-WRMWNX/) He's a dubious caracter this Siggi. Peronally I dont think that Wikileaks had any access to real data from Althingi and that was part of Siggi's scams to get into the Wikileaks crowd and, believe it or not, the offices of Alingi are not breaking the law about recording phonecalls.
Then there is the case of the jumping packages, which is totally unrelated and has been well documented in Icelandic (http://ruv.is/sarpurinn/spegillinn/26112013-0) basically the Icelandic telecom (síminn) had faulty equipment in Canada that advertised wrong BGP routes between the 31st of july until the 22th of august and as they did not have prefix filters in place in some other endpoints these routes got advertised to the internet. There are long personal discussion threads about this on facebook in direct communications between the technicians working at the Icelandic telecom and some of the other telco's in Iceland. These guys know their stuff and have no reason to take part's in cover-ups for hackers as the community of networking experts in Iceland is very small and these guys know each other personally.
Ok, I live i Iceland were we stopped this nonsense years ago but the question remains. Why on earth should we meddle with the clock? There is no value in this, if you want to earn an extra hour in the sunshine deal with your boss, wake up an hour earlier and please leave yours and mine timing device alone.
Could anyone please explain to me with simple arguments why anyone wants to change the time. And please not this earn an extra hour +!*##, we can do that without changing the time if we feel like it.
Daniel Hartmeier of PF fame has a nice little howto on how to tarpit spammers on http://www.benzedrine.cx/relaydb.html I just love that idea, grab them in the act, delay them and send a NDR in the end.
And of course, if you ever meet anybody who bought anything form a spammer, hit them on the head with a big plank.
1. ASP 3.0, well isn't that really just server side scripting?
3. Don't forget that SQL server was a joint venture with Sybase, it's a very nice tool and has developed and matured very nicely.
11. Have you heard of a company called Citrix? and their dealing with Microsoft, you should really check that story out. I guess others can fill the other blanks
I remember a windows utility called Pointix Scroll+ and later Pointix engine and then pop mouse. (http://216.128.205.5/shareware/apps/98/mouse.html #2831).
It was really generic mouse gesture program which popped up menus if you wiggled your mouse about. I liked it but people who started working on my computer could not understand it
The company who made it has gone to dotcomhell or something but maybe we will see more of them trying to sue Mozilla and opera.
If anyone wants to try it I found a version here
LTO is still to expensive for the home user and I hate having my backups on multiple tapes. Get an IDE Raid controller and a HD caddy and some extra HD's. Use mirroring and exchange disks regulary. Simple, cheap and effective
Do you live on the backside of the earth? Do you have to pay for recived SMS as well? Tell your phone company to stuff it where the sun does not shine and move to Europe. Charging like this is robbery.

GPG vs. PGP?
·
· Score: 2
I have been using PGP for 3 years on Windows. The main reason I started it is because of a friendly interface between my mail agent (at that time Eudora) and PGP which made it possible to encrypt and sign my mail without learning to use wrappers or command prompt PGP. The reason I did not like the idea of using command promtp PGP was because the manual stared with introduction to cryptography which was not what I wantend and did not tell my simply what to do to get it up and running.
After the latest security scare I looked að GNUPG and saw to my dismay that I would have to give up the auto promtping windows and userfriendlyness (relevtivly speaking) of the windows versions of PGP for command prompt switches and to read the introduction to cryptography again and probably start using mutt as my email client.
So I cross my fingers and use the latest verion of PGP and hope that Echelon will have fun reading the encrypted conspirecy theorys I mail myself.
Well they might not be able to but send your email to support@cddb.com telling something like.
I have submitted some query's to your database because I thought it to be GPL'd or running under similar licence. I am not happy with your change of licence and want my submissions out of the database.
It's more that just a web app. It reminds more of metaframe than anything else. (why use that when you can have X/VNC:)
It is really quite impressive and is used for instance on freedesk.com running applix (if you have not tried applix out then there is your change) it is tecnically impressive but not as fast as citrix and yes seems to crash. But it is an impressive product non the less. Read the docs at sco's website.
Has OpenBSD never been submitted for security evaluation. M$ went to big heights over the C2 stamp on NT4. How about an officeal evaluation of OpenBSD's security
Why should PG become web-friendly this project is about the text, the words not the illustrations, typography or whatever.
Download the ASCII and format it at home for printing, on screen reading, throw it at a text to speech synthesizer or whatever you want to do with it. It is free and you can do with it what you like. The ASCII format is more portable than html. I can even boot my old C64 and read the PG text there if I want to.
I have had horrible time over the years getting rid of the formatting of online text's I want to read (The HTML principia discordia is a good example). I like the raw text format because I can download the text, throw it into a word processor and change the font and print it, make a.pfd, format it for the palm and upload it somewhere else, not forgetting to site PG who make it possible.
So if you think PG should become web friendly format the texts for the web yourself. PG might need that but we will still need the e-texts in a standard format
I for one downloaded it even though I am not buying a DVD for the next year. Just the thought that I can not copy something I pay for and own makes me mad.
And BTW people have been copying music for years and years on tapes and other media and the music industry is still there pushing out mountains of junk I cant legally preview in my own home. I just hope I can soon get shareware albums straight from the artists instead of paying Warner Brothers for their work
A smart gun that could not be fired outside of a firing range or as a second option at a human would be a much smarter choice. The right to bear arms

Strange to include win2net but not VNC and Metaframe which to me seem to do the same. (and do much better job at it)
And then the left the obvious out. How you can run linux programs on windows with something as sipmle as a terminal emulator or a X server
