  3. Waay back I used the maxmind IP DB to determine which country users where from - it was all I needed. In that scenario "USA" Would be a perfectly usable location for me.

    I have no idea if the state of the US justice system is THAT bad, but in any sane country such a case would/should be laughed out of court

    That picture is composed of images taken in april and october of 2012. It has absolutely no relation to the fires currently going on.

    What about making a simple variometer that gives of a tone depending on the rate of descent?

    I guess something crude can be made with a simple atmospheric pressure sensor, and an AVR.

    Isn't that like saying: "Your application shouldn't break because a windowing system isn't available, but instead fall back to curses"?

    Sometimes, IMHO, it's just not worth it to have a non-js enabled fallback.

    But is'nt that just a matter of time? Network throughput will most like increase much faster than size of jpegs(due to higher resolution displays), so give it 10 years and it doesn't really matter much whether you use jpeg or png speedwise.

    Yes, they were using actual WoW data files, including player and enemy models, sound effects and all that. That is clearly infringing on copyrighted material.

    If the server host had bought a copy of the game for each server, where is the copyright infringement? I know that there might be some EULA problems, if you live a place where those won't be laughed out of court, but I have a hard time seeing what is so bad here if the copy of the data files on the server is not pirated.

    I just answer the phone, asks them to hang on for a second, and then just deposit the phone somewhere silent, like my bedroom, and wait for them to hang up. My current record is 7 minutes and 49 seconds.

    This makes it as expensive for them to call me as possible with me just spending 5 seconds of my time.

    Unfortunately, as Iran, Afghanistan and North Korea have demonstrated, they ARE stupid enough, and really don't care if they die for Allah or Kim or whoever.

    Clearly I missed the news report of Iran, Afghanistan or Democratic People's Republic of Korea launching nukes at anyone?

    Even popular games that are shipping now do not run under it: that tells me it's obsolete.

    I would guess that is only because DirectX 10 is not supported on XP - and the reason, I believe, is because MS wanted to force gamers to Vista(It was kind of problematic that people that were first movers did not really move to Vista)

    Few garbagemen comes up with a great idea(Google, Skype, Facebook whatever) and become really rich men. So it's not really a valid comparisation just to compare the income of an average garbageman and an average programmer. You need add the Bill Gates', Janus Friis' and Larry Page's of the world when you calculate average programmer pay! :)

    Not that THAT was the case here, but there ARE limits to "freedom of speech". You CAN say what ever you want but if what you so directly endangers the lives of others I sure hope you will be arrested.

    Go out and take a walk and ask people if they miss having a real PC. I bet they do. If they don't now, they will when the capacity for your servers approaches 80%, and then management will be unwilling to invest in more infrastructure.

    So your argument is that if you implement thin clients incorrectly, it won't work? :)

    I'm not really for or against them, but lets at least get some better arguments against them than this.
