Sir,
Being an avid gamer, after searching honestly the only reason I would still want to buy a PS3 was if it
worked flawlessly in linux. Companies like terrasoftsolutions( YDL Linux ) are providing this but with restricted
drivers and features like no GL Hardware Acceleration on the RSX graphics chipset.
Is Sony planning to offer even a binary non-GPL ed driver for this or any other form of driver ??

It is clear from their home website below
http://www.sco.com/scosource/
that the business model is built on spreading fear and uncertainity.
From the page
"Many IT users are concerned about using Linux since they have become aware of the allegations that Linux is an unauthorized derivative work of the UNIX® operating system. Users have come to SCO asking what they can do to continue to run their businesses. SCO has created the SCOsource business division in response to these needs.
"
Its not so muach as stating this is what sco does , but rather saying you the sinner better repent.
Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
"You might not care for HP's choice of OS, but a PC needs an OS or it just doesn't work. You're free to buy your PC from someone OTHER than HP, and the law should not force HP to sell you what they don't want "
See the interesting thing is they dont advertise the issues with a "XP image installation"
1. You cannot partition HDD to your desire, only 1 partition allowed anything above that they dont support. 2. They install bloatware (AOL,Music match, other junk) everytime you reinstall forcibly. 3. Cannot install a retail copy of WIn XP Pro on the laptop , which i believe is a illegal restriction.
I recently purchase a HP DV2000t laptop , I agree absolutely with the suit the french man has charged. If you have a retail copy of WIn XP it still doesnt work wid the laptop(SATA Driver problems , even loading the SATA driver from floppy leads to a crash) unless its the XP image provided by HP itself. and when you restore image all the bloat ware including comes back .
Spent 2 days arguiing with HP support to send me a regular XP OS install CD instead of disc images. They abosultely refused . Finally i ended up bastardizing the image so much that i doubt if i'd be able to resintall .
Good news is SuSE 10.1 works including webcam and eveything . so will probably ditch win Xp on it alltogether
I consider myself a regular user of redhat and Ubuntu for non-linux development work , have tried both systems for atleast a year, to me the definition of a useful system is where i am able to get my work done productively. The biggest snag I find in most linux system is the install process of software.
Most of the time users have trouble with some package version or the other , is fedora looking at any solutions which makes resolutions on conflicting packages automatically ( I know yum is there, but is not the default process of installation).
I found it relatively more easy using apt-get on ubuntu .

Some moron in an online editorial is curious what mozilla is doing with its money , why the heck should mozilla disclose how its using its money ? free software doesnt mean you have to account for every penny you earn , they built a heck of a browser let them reap the benefits of what they sowed.

How else do you think usuability is defined ? whatever a majority of the peeps are comfortable with.
Do you think any application would survive if the print button was located in the help menu ?
I believe we owe it to MS for standardizing many of the function buttons in an applcation. Atleast when someone is lookign for a particular button you have a vague idea where it could be located.
The answer is very simple , put Football aside for a year and you have enough money to sponsor scientific research and graduates for next ten years.
Its amzing to see how much money goes to sports in this country, Am sure its important but when you are competing in a global economy what is it going to earn the nation ? come on..

What a LOAD o' CRAP, pesky blogger think hes got it down, I for one hate hot corners imagine accidentally moving the mouse to read text and popping an application nothing more annoying than that, also many like having multiple options to do the same thing ty V much.
Now if he had mentioned about creating new HC interfaces altogether , like making the desktop really 3d, like XGL and other technologies are trying to bring, it'd be worth a read. Seriously, Imagine going to the 10th subfolder in a parent by rotating the parent slightly and reaching the nested folder directly, now that is something
Somehow this reminds me how skewed perspective can be , or even if there is a common ground to looking at this .

Read some posts about waning research in computers, my perception is its just been moved to other countries Netherlands, Germany , France, India, China.
Rather sad to see the importance of research as a means to stay ahead of the pack has been lost in US, especially when billions of dollars are piped into football and other sports.. tsk tsk. Not Good.

Imagine walking into the town with a RFID payment card and not knowing where your money is being spent.
Walk First block - 2 bucks on toll without being aware of it.
Second block - 5 bucks Automatic withdrawl from a street band playing crappy music. Just bcos ur in range of their payment device.
Third block - 2 bucks Automated payment withdrawl to the bag lady on the sreet.
Oops missed a street - U screwed !! APply for overwithdrawal protection.

The best usability desktop is where
1. Ctrl+C (Copy), Ctrl+X(Cut) Ctrl+A (Select All) Ctrl +V(Paste) Ctrl+P (Print)
works in all applications you open out of the box.
2. You open up a file Browser, go to the folder you wanna browse and type the first letter of the file and the cursor takes you there.
One has to agree, whatever follows MS Windows closely.
In this case that would be kde handsdown .
