  1. Suse Rocks .. on Novell To Open Source SUSE · · Score: 1

A free version of suse pro has always been available
its just being renamed to opensuse, if i member correctly, you had to download an iso
and boot on that cd and install off the net.
I just hope they dont transfer control of
decision making, on features to the community. Face it there has to be an authority with proven
skills to be able to dictate what works in practical life and other wise

I purchased every version of suse pro from 8.0 as
a personal show of support for the superb
distro, I never had a problem with it.. If not for anything
Reiserfs rocks !!, I yet have to see it break , had
power failures , my kid pressing comp power buttons for play etc. still worked.

all of this to defend ASP? Pffft , any language can be squandered due to sloppiness of a programmer. Restricting programmer sloppiness from within a Language should be none of the languages business, it rather should be the programmers supervisor. For the last 4 commercial web projects i have built and sold , PHP has let me do everything i need from generating PDF's, dynamic graphics, menus ,DB interfaces to a bunch of vendors etc etc . And the code reusability is awesome , once you have the framework any application is just a few copy paste links away .

Yeah yeah binary compatibility rt ? Java is not actually binary either , has to be interpreted by the local parser . whats wrong with ./configure , make , make install ? and its atleast a zillion times fast than java

Wonder why this doesnt get metioned as much, offshoring IT jobs are like a fraction of what US is paying to the outside world, consider the huge debt US is in to china for everything from silverware to computers ... I guess it is important because immediate lifestyle ,Beemers, luxury houses is given higher attention rather than droves of small business , production factories losing out to low cost chinese strangulation , the effect is more permanent, and US dependency is sealed. Its totally biased like everything else .. Any country which leaves physical production of primary goods to other countries is not a good sign, consider the simple case of flu vaccinations one company somewhere in UK got shutdown and US had no flu vaccine. With respect to producing something physically, i feel IT jobs are ethereal, you do have to question what ur producing .. i am not complaining being a software engineer myself .. I just wish peeps would stop arguing about offshoring production / jobs and take some steps to stop it .. aHH crap am rambling ...with no end in sight ..
