So you really would expect that MS would take the time (aka spend the money) to rewrite already-working applications, such as notepad, paint, and regedit, just because you want to see.Net in action?
Great to see a reply on this... In response to your last point - I see so many people on here just jump in with the 'this is stupid' or 'I think this is wrong' line, just because one of the bigger companies has made a decision one way or the other. Many times, they don't take the time to give any reasons (good or otherwise), and just dump their knee-jerk reactions here for everyone to see.
The fact that you took the time to reply with some reasons (and I agree with the point about DRM, in particular) shows me that you put some thought into it, and that it's not just a simple '[insert corporation name here] sucks!' posting.
I would wager that if you'd put these points into your initial posting, I wouldn't have felt so compelled to reply!:)
Actually, I've had really good experiences with CC. I bought a receiver there a while back, used it for a week, and decided I wanted a different model. I put it back in the box, went to the Customer Service desk, and after a quick look in the box to ensure that everything was there, they took it back and credited my account back with the full amount + tax that I had paid!
For no other reason than I had changed my mind... I was pleasently surprised.
Google doesn't present the paid ratings as actual search results, do they? I believe they actually present them separately, clearly marking them as paid listings. If Yahoo wants to do this, I don't have a problem with it, as long as they don't pretend that these paid listings are there for the same reasons as a 'good hit' is. . .
These sounds are used all over the place in scifi shows. The materialization sound, that bzzzzzzz sound as medpacks, ammo, etc reappear is used for many things, like teleporters, weapon discharges, etc.
As for the door/portal sounds from Q1 and Q2, that is also used all over the place.

I don't understand your statement that WGA is stupid.
Care to elaborate as to WHY it is stupid?
Or is this just another rant?
(I also don't understand how a rant like this is modded 'insightful', but that's just me)

Wow. I'm a Washingtonian (state, that is), and I though the Evergreen State jokes were only known locally! :)

Interesting... I know that some of the Software Etc stores in my area became EBs, not Gamestops. Was there a split somewhere?

Congrats... I just spilled coffee on myself because of this comment... :) (Note to self, put down hot beverages while reading /.)
