Bingo - I could not agree more. This reinforces why open document standard are required, another company should not decide when my documents are obsolete.
I have a Tom-Tom and only have GNU/Linux machines at home. The Tom-Tom via USB will act as a mass-storage device so you can no most things - heck there are just files on the Tom-Tom. I even have my wife's voice giving me directions. The only thing that is not possible is downloading extra maps. But this can be done via a mobile device paired with the Tom-Tom
I could not agree more. I start asking question about a project I was using. Then I answered other questions in the forums, for other users, based upon the knowledge I picked up.
Next I submitted a one line patch. [Heck at that point I could not even use diff]
Then I wrote a manual. I worked out how to use diff, subscribed to the developer mailing lists. More patch, modules written by me.
I am now one of the administrators of the project.
a pen A pen then says quite clearly how one can use it for free and how to contact the owner of the pen if you would like to use the said pen.
SCREAM AS LOUD AS YOU CAN ABOUT THAT PERSON BEING A THIEF He affirmed it was his pen and can we talk about how to use the pen together. I think the guy has been too reasonable.
t's well documented that the bcm43xx drivers are GPL, both on the project website and in the code itself. Not when it was on BSD cvs. Which is the main point. The Public cvs represented the code as BSD. The public email corrected this, in my opinion ian a clam way.
But Mr.Theo (Did I mention that you are using SSH) Raad did not respond in a calm way.
Burn that karma.
1. OMG What has happened to Slashdot. +3 for I am a lazy computer-luser ?
If you pirate software, you should get a really f**ked system. Ok a app deleting a file on purpose is step too far. But do you not think some of this pirated software could be full of spy-ware and Trojans. My money is that you spawning out tons of spam.
This is what really annoys me - it is seen as cool and hip to have pirated software. Yet it does not matter that your machine could be part of a botnet.
In case you ask, 100% FOSS, 0% pirate, 0% spambot.
Thats why I love the BBC and I am happy pay my license fee. If the Beeb was a normal TV station, they would just take the lazy option of windows only. Name me another tv station who would do this ? Value for money.
The one I used to at interviews to ask entry-level Engineers, is a simple question..
Imagine you live in a shared house, with a shared computer. The computer using dial-up (POTS/PSTN) to connect to the internet. You come home and there is a Post-It note on the computer saying 'Internet Not working'. Talk me through the logical steps you would take to solve the problem.
The correct answer I use is 'Password has been corrupted'. But we are really interesting the steps. They can use any operating system they like. The important thing is they check simple things like - is the phone line connected to the computer, dial-tone, handshaking... etc. It is a good question to differentiate between candidates, the weak one jump to maybe phoning the helpdesk (The the candidate that is a premium rate number) or start re-installing drivers. The best people will tell you each simple step.

No it isn't. The "best video-on-the-web delivery platform" is a hyperlink to an.mpeg file (in terms of ubiquity and cross-platform support; in an ideal world it should be a link to an.ogg (Theora) file).
I do release videos under ogg - in an ideal world everything should be ogg.
However for non-geeks, Theora files do not 'Just Work'. Hence with some reluctance I have to release some videos as flash files, so that my Wife, Uncle, Sister and Grandad can view them - as they are all using different plaforms, GNU/linux - Mac - Windows. Getting them all to use ogg it impossible, but flash will 'Just Work' for all of them, even on PC's at work.

Went way over some peoples head.
The 3.5 billion is IMHO wasted money. The 25 billion is to secure mortgages, the Government should get at most of this back - bad comparison.

It is indeed very fun and does make my chuckle - at last "She" can read a Map. Also it is fun to have Knife and Fork instead of Right and Left.

The best mechanism is just not to have a gun.
Others off the top of my head.
Give me an example of how your resolved a conflict in a team ?
An example of how your secured extra resources ?
How have you managed a team through a big change ?
How have you had to change your management style to suit different team members ?
But Mr.Theo (Did I mention that you are using SSH) Raad did not respond in a calm way.
Well - As a big Doctor Who fan myself - Billy Piper was one of the best assistants IMHO, but I think Catherine Tate was the best.
But alas the video is not available in a free format.
Heck I did not know either: excupate
