The enviornment will change anyway. History, Arechology and other sciences have shown us that. Even before mans time of rule here the climate was in constant flux. We've had ice ages, tropical times and the inbetween.
What is there to be concerned with. It will change wether we want it to or not. We have to learn to live with it, try not to kill ourselves off, make sure we don't do too much damage (climate change is not damage. although damage can cause climate change), and enjoy our short time on this earth.
As far as a massive global storm, it isn't unrealistic. Just look at Mars. There is a storm going on there that is so big you can see it from earth and it has been going on for years.
Who would someone pay to "rent" a song. If you cancel the service you loose the song. Unless they got a better license than any of the other services (besides iTMS)
A lot of /.ers play poker

Geeks and Poker?

I'm sure there are a lot of/.ers who play poker. They all downloaded that free strip poker and played for hours to win.
As a licence payer, I really don't mind. Hey, we've already paid it, it's there, why not just let everyone else enjoy it as well? What benefit is there in locking it away? I don't gain anything!
I like your thinking but I was just trying to make my comment like a businees in the business of making money would think.
We get it for free because they pay thier yearly tax.
How long will this last. The BBC supplying to the world with only the Brits paying for it. I would guess they would give it to the Brits at no cost but charge everyone else.
Why would they want to do the distributed??? They are using 10Gbs etho and blow your mind away servers to render at amazingly high rates. Probubally several times faster than something like the SETI network could imagine.
And hell, those sysadmins have the most owerful systems in the world. Who would give that up? They even get whole new systems every couple years.
So, this is saying that there is a law out there file swappers could be prossecuted under. But, the RIAA is trying to get a law passed specific to their cause and what they want as an ends.
Batteries is one area that has been laging behind the rest of the tech indutstry. With all the growth, batteries are very similar in technology to where they were 10 or 15 years ago.
All the big talk is about fuel cells. Will these batteries really show much improvement or is it another marketing ploy
I guess the big question is then, would that really stop M$ viruses. Email isn't the only way to infect them. And, how many holes would there be in that scheme for virus and worm hackers to take advantage of.
ALso, what happens if a M$ Caller ID server gets a virus. Image the damage from that payload.

I'll start by saying I did not RTFA.
Can someone tell me how a warming can start an ice age. I thought warming melted ice.

Or, was that just me
I used to play poker but, I played 1 to many times where I lost my pants literally and gave up.

Can Cocoa use the same objsect code produced in Mono?
the cocoa, cocoa cabana....
Real men code everything in assembly
Why go through the trouble?
/. so of course someone would try.
The simple answer is to see if you can. It's
I wonder if you could get a section of the frame(s) you (helped) to render...
/.ers would combine their powers and probubally have a lot of the movie weeks before it was released.
The film industry can afford it so...

Tech devices today know they have limited power to work with. They figure in and try to save every lst drop.
Years ago, they didn't figure for this. They had all the power they needed.
So, and I know this from my college studies in the area, batteries have not grown very much over the last decade. They are pretty much the same.
will be respectful of our environment.
I guess that begs asking, whose enviornment? Are they talking our as a company, our as in the part of the world they are made?

I already have a mail client that handles spam well. It's Mail on my mac. It is amazingly accurate at filtering.
Now, if we could integrate that at the server level we would be all set. Maybe it's time for Apple to write a mail server with this technology.

I bet they are hiding it in plain sight. Like under New York City or something.
The major difference is the other person currently is in the car with you. The consequences fall on them too.
With someone else not in the car they don't have the consequences if there is an accident. To them it's like game over on a console.
Would you trust to have someone else drive you to work? I sure wouldn't. Especially if they do that for a living.
If an accident were to happen; You wouldn't have been in any kind of control.
This wouldn't be a bad thing for all those drunks who try to drive home though.
That kind of technology has some major pros and cons.
Just imagine if for once we all decided to RTFA. Nothing could stand in our path.
I guess the bigger question is do we want it to put it in 3D when our brain already does.
