As I Dane I strongly object to this slur on our proud language (If you have to poke fun, Swedish is much more deserving. there is a reason the Chef was Swedish)
SKO in Danish is what Darl need to have inserted where the sun don't shine. If you need a hint SKO is someting the Nazi storm troopers wore on their Feet.
the objective of mail fraud is to accomplish a desired result by deception, trickery, concealment, and/or dishonesty, albeit through the use of the United States Mail Service or other private/commercial interstate carriers
This is taken serious and hopefully will result in Darl getting his behind serviced on a regular basis.
There is a good article here about the whole issue
It is the first LEGAL statement I have seen. This is important as everyone can hide behind this if they are later sued.
It is not a good defense in court to state that you chose to ignore this whole issue based on advice from you uncle or your friends at Slashdot.
However if you say that you sought legal council and behaved as advised, you are OK in the sense that your max exposure is the License payment not recieved, no Punitives, fines etc.
Best quote from the Article:

Simply by being an interested and aggressive defendant with deep pockets, IBM is now effectively shielding Linux users from damages, even without an indemnity provision in the GPL.
No the "benefit" of this deal is already included in the current price, It is likely better to dump ATI if you have any shares, since MS always screws it's "partners".
When was the last time you heard of a company extending its partnership with Microsoft due to the benefits derived? I thought not.
I agree with you. I have tried to send money for a while, but no luck. Maybe the third time Slashdot posts this story RH will have a Donation link ready.
The "love thing" can profitable be looked at as an independant Strategy for success in rearing off-spring (Maybe in mating as well)
A strategy that has pluses and minuses and as such subject to varianses over time, species, geography and the like.
Stick with "the one you love" and increase chances of off-spring survival vs "fool around" and increase number of off-springs. I don't know where the equilibrium is only that there must be one, morality aside.
In other words: men who want their children to have the best chance in life
This is not how it works.
Men have close to Zero invested in making a child, so best strategy is to get as many women pregnant as he can get away with
Women on the other hand has a lot invested (9 month plus rearing) so best strategy is to get the best male sperm she can.
This is how it is for Humans and most primates hence the different behavour of male and females.
As an aside "surviaval of the fittest" as Huxley said is not enough. It is survival and procreation that is needed. You can survive as long as you want, if you don't get any offspriongs it's for naught gene pool wise.
It would be a VERY good idea for the GCC people to follow up on this. Remember Christian Hellweg that worked for Caldera and is responsible for a lot of the SCO stuff inside Linux.
If no "agreement" exist now with SCO maintaining their portion of the GCC, this can be used to make a strong point for Helweg doing what his company wanted later. If they, as I suspect, sue Hellweg, at some point to make the point he is in collusion with IBM.
TheInquirer had a story yesterday about Caldera and Linux
You make a good point but luckily the press will not understand this so the headline will be SCO UnixWare / OpenWare no longer supported and Applications written for SCO will no longer work.
Remember SCO still sells this POS, and we need to tighten their Air supply.
Second as another guy mentioned they will now have to maintain it themselves
I bet the license was "bought" as part of normal license renewal for a major customer. McDonald as far as I know uses OpenServer in fairly large numbers. They probably gave then a significant discount on the OpenServer deal and mentione that for a nominal fee they could get a "Linux" License as well. Why wouldn't they take it just to avoid hassle, and they most likely have some linux servers up and running so it's not such a assinine thing to do.
they're just trying to sell computers without the MS tax
What wrong with that?
It happens all the time the other way and MS get's money they didn't earn, Second the guy might already own a copy of Windows so have the clerk transfer it seems ok to me.
Well You are wrong, Look at this Netcraft story not cover by Slashdot

At the time many analysts speculated that SCO's behaviour might deter enterprise companies from using Linux. However, this has not happened to date, at least in respect of their internet visible web sites. In the last two months Linux has made a net gain of over 100 enterprise sites; sites which have migrated to Linux including Royal Sun Alliance, Deutsche Bank, SunGard,T-online and most noteworthy, Schwab

At least they didn't claim it was Microsoft straight away. By the way TheInquirer thinks it was LovSan / Slammer
IRA McGee over at LinuxToday had a brilliant suggestion, if you get one.
Call your local USPS or FBI and claim MailFraud

For cases taken on contingency? I find this hard to believe.

Can anyone mane ONE company that entered into an agreement with Microsoft that didn't get screwed?
Pitty this is getting so little support

How about moving the GDI to ring 0 for performance reasons, allowing a printdriver to crash the OS.

MS can't pay every quarter, so the Lights out by Xmas might still hold true.
From what I understand this means that they are being informed they are under investigation. Anyone have any info?

Hopefully they will get jailtime anyway, but they can't be so stupid as to make this up.
The way these clown are going it will be NoFortune 500 soon
Good news is SCOX closed down 14% today.
Submitted the story but got rejected, Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the word jail-time so often. ;-)
