How precisely do you suggest we go about achieving this feat?

  2. Make sure you refer your friend ;-) on Uplink · · Score: 1

If you refer your friends you get a free Bonus disk once Introvision has finished it. Way cool game by the way, and you can use your Demo "work" in the full version, You do not have to start over.

I was tempted to moderate you up, but I'd rather respond instead.
You should have moderated! Discussing what you find funny and claiming that something you don't find funny makes the reviewer suspect is asinine. It's like thinking that someone who likes Peppermint is dubious because it reminds you of a dentist visit.

These report is pure drivel. There is a very interesting report / Rebuttal from Odlyzko of University of Minnesota about the growth of the Internet itself. It seems that the numbers banted around is between 400% year and Zero. Second the makers of these reports can't do basic math.

  13. Risk / Profitability of expansion on Aerie Reviving Ricochet Network · · Score: 1

The "risk" assessment of expansion makes all the difference. Metricom overbuild into markets where they obtained very few subscribers, as they probably felt that "first entry" advantage was very important. If you remember Metricom tried to retrench into fewer areas before they went under. They were saddled with the debt servicing of the total cost of their network investment, so they didn't make it. The situation for Aerie is much different. They can expand where they need the capacity and thereby obtained high useage rates from the get go. Second, cost of the networks is coming down and the eased competitiveness of the market allows them to obtain higher subscription rates. Thirdly they can work with third parties in the local markets. CLEC's might be one option if there is anyone left.

  14. Game Ratio important on Strong Hints On Flashing Your Xbox · · Score: 2

This is only partly true. There was a press release from Nintendo the other day and it spend some time talking about the 1.9 Games to Console ratio they obtained. A few days later MS announced that they had the best ratio ever recorded for an initial concole launch of 2.4.
This number is important and the game developers are not fools. They have been in this arean much longer than MS and knows the deal. Second the games sold will be analysed endlessly by all kinds of parameters like age, gender etc, so a significant conversion rate to Linux will have an impact.

  15. Combine /. comments as in "Interviews" on States Filing Alternate Remedy Proposal for MS Anti-Trust Case · · Score: 2, Interesting

I don't think the comments to the DOJ necessarily needs to be internally consistent. Let me suggest that Slashdot on behalf of its readers submit the highest ranked proposals. Do it using the same format that is being done when questions to interesting people is being solicited. That way at least the major concerns of this community is on record.

  16. Wireless ADCo? on Why ADCo? · · Score: 2, Interesting

Why wouldn't it be possible to do a lot of the last mile plumbing using wireless? If the ADCo could get access to a suitable band (G3?) at least initially they could save a lot of the physical wireing cost and they could get to a relativbely high market saturation quickly. The basestations used could be used for mobile phones etc later.

At least while gaming you are using your "god given" faculties, and the Zombies is inside the Display unit.
