Because if a person reads 'APPLE', 'apple' and 'Apple', for him, all of them means the same fruit(or company)?
I don't understand what is the reason behind case sensitivity at all. I think it's the same as "hey, let's start counting from zero instead of one!". Painful legacy.

But they are both losless, so bit-by-bit copy of the original data, not psychoacoustically compressed .
