So I told the lady OK and ended the call. I called my mom and asked her if she cancelled the account. She said, No. So I figures.. ok, they SUCK ALL ASS and signed up with Hooked.Net (which was bought out 3 different times, and now is something like boss technologies or something. My account doesn't work, and there are NOcustomer service numbers on the site.. haven't been billed either, so I could give two shits.. fuck them.)

Fast forward two years, my mom shows me her CC bill and low and behold, a charge from Earthlink. TWO YEARS of billing an account that was "cencelled", so we called them on this, the g33k that we spoke with said he could refund us 2 months, but that's it. I told them to check the account, when was the last time it was used.. they said something like they couldn't do that. Fucking assmonkies..

My other ISP.. Netcom, which I sighed up for in 94, was bought out my Earthlink, so I'm an earthink member once again.. fucking lovely.

The new Update Agent provided with Red Hat Linux 7.0 contains a daemon, rhnsd, which periodically polls Red Hat Network for updates. This daemon leaks file descriptors. On a default installation, all available file descriptors will be used by rhnsd in approximately three weeks, making the system unusable.

I don't care if its a mac/ms/*nix/*BSD or what, but if it gets the job done, relatively well and fast, I will use it.

For programming, i don't care if its VB/C/Glade/Perl/Python whatever.. whatever suits the job best. And yes, sometimes, if not MOST of the time, it's a MS solution (for me at least, YMMV).

And for the record, win win98 installation, which I just reinstalled everything ( 2 days worth of installs and hundreds of reboots ) is showing the same symptoms of the problem for the reinstall, which I'm assuming came from windows-update. So no, I'm not living in a perfect world. If any of these companies had a GOOD, well thought out business plan, they wouldn't be going out of business because they could find a buyer, Sep. 11th really hurt them, or the current economy keeps them from being profitable.
