  1. Fireplug Computers on Who Invented the Linux-Based Wireless Router? · · Score: 4, Informative
Stuart Lynne and I were partners in Canada's first ISP, Wimsey.COM

After we sold that company - and the purchaser tanked, we started up Fireplug Computers Inc. doing Linux for embedded devices, including "Thin-Linux" which was specifically oriented to being a router. I ran a version of that on a 486 system until it finally died earlier this year.

We had wireless capabilities in this, with drivers for a couple of the then available wireless chips.

Fireplug was sold to Lineo Inc. in 1999 - and I'm fairly sure that Lineo did some work on Linux wireless too.

In my own office, I've found that unless I have at least as much screen real estate as I do desk (I currently have more screen than desk in front of me if you subtract the space needed for the keyboard, mouse and coffee cup ;) I HAVE to print out stuff to allow me to refer to it as I work on the screen.

I have 4 16x9 aspect monitors on my workstation and rarely find I need more - but have room for 2 more monitors on the current cards and room for one more dual-head card in the box (4 PCI-X16 slots)

Back in 2002 I spoke before the Copyright Board of Canada about the Blank Media Levy. Then, the CPCC was asking for $10 per Gigabyte which in today's light would be even more absurd than it was then.

The point is that no matter what the levy, in today's wired world the only losers would be the Canadian retail sellers of such items - because any levy would be enough to more than pay for the shipping of a unit from outside the country - so neither the musicians nor the retailers would profit.

kind of makes me wonder if it is the US resellers who are behind this ;)
