  1. I'd rather do the opposite... on Apple Delays New iMac · · Score: 1

... I think the swing-arm LCD is the best part about the iMac. What I'd like to do is take the guts out of a 20" model and use the base and display as a cheap alternative to a VESA-mounted LCD for my G5. Small footprint, easily adjustable to a lot of heights and angles... almost makes sense when you think about it.

  2. One difference from Konfabulator on Jobs Previews Displays, Tiger at WWDC · · Score: 5, Interesting
In the most recent build of Konfabulator, with the "Konspose" feature that Apple seems to be aping, all of your widgets stay visible at all times, and hitting the Konspose key brings them to the front and screens the rest of your apps behind a textured background.

In Apple's version, the widgets are hidden until the dashboard is activated, at which time they slide to the foreground.

In my opinion, Apple's solution is a lot more elegant, and one I'd actually use. It's a subtle difference, but it's different. I also applaud the addition of the widget launcher... much better than having all widgets running at all times.

The argument is really about whether this is a rebirth of Apple's old Desk Accessory application type or just a ripoff of the Konfabulator widget idea, or some hybrid of the two.

My friend and I used to prank the local Sears store using that game. They would have a C64 out running a demo loop, and we'd kick the demo, load up a copy of that game, turn up the volume and walk away briskly.

We'd be halfway across the store when that opening yell "Goooooooooooooooo Joe!" rang out and every employee in the department converged on the spot.

We were so easily amused back then.
