I've driven those, and for those of you who haven't, let me tell you they're MASSIVE vehicles. They can pretty much go where where you please, at least as long as the place is wide enough.
So... how the devil do you get one of those stuck (besides purposefully sliding it between a couple of trees)? And how much effort does it take to get it unstuck?
But, you refer to "SME's" a few times but don't say what it is (if an average MEP will know, then it's okay). And there are a few typos and spellos, so you should run it through a spell checker.
Also, you use the term "even when a child can see" -- that may well be, but the tone of word becomes so negative it may put the MEP in an adverse mood. Remember, you have to sweet-talk them *at least* as much as the pro-people do, so you ought to use the most positive language imaginable!;-)
Well, one of the reasons why I have restarted a couple of times is that in The Beginning I would just rip 'em as they were; later, I would use CDDB to insert useful info; still later I started to use CDDB/FreeDB purely as a template, editing the info to ensure consistency and correctness. Then I decided to alter my "consistency default"...
Seems to me that once you've gotten the data off the disc, altering the data info in a structured, batchy way is nigh-on impossible.
Compared to choosing an audio format, it's at least as difficult to choose a "media library manager" that's smart about that additional info, instead of just a player that thinks of music as individual files.
I've found SnackAmp to be useful but (not very pretty), and JuK) to be prettier but not as useful. Comments?
Having spent quite some time as the (on-call) IT dude in an all-Dell office, I can confidently say that DELL KEYBOARDS DON'T LAST long enough to warrant any kind of customisations. I remember (all too vividly) replacing every single laptop keyboard at least twice a year. Shucks...
...I don't know why, but this "scandal-mongering" (along with dupes) has become more of a problem on/. this past year.
That's sad, because one of the things that marked/. when I first saw it was the factualness of the articles (*this point does apply to comments). This watering-down makes it ever more sleazy like the regular newspapers.:(
You may remember, a few years ago a certain scientist up and died, and wanted his ashes to be broucht to the moon.
There was some commotion; in part due to the novelty of his idea, but in part also because various cultures for obvious reasons credit the moon with religious powers. I myself am not a cient of any religion, but I do see sense in respecting the varying (and sometimes dilligent) opinions of others.
So it was with some sympathetic relief that I noted that this particular scientist in the end received an earthly burial.

Now, I also believe that the population of other planets and moons is inevitable---indeed, it is desired to achieve this milestone before we are wiped out---by meteor or by human hand---but I firmly believe that the moon (as the Antarctic) ought to remain nationless. Not only that, I suspect that it is imperative that any permanent establishment should be representative of the world as a whole (or an appreciable fraction thereof, as is the case with the ISS) and not a single nation.
Should a single nation undertake this, I fear that it may well be an unwary one, not heeding the sentiments of the rest of the home world, or even the long-term effects on the moon. But then, what country would I trust to do such a thing sensibly---Nepal? Sweden? Switzerland? In any case, Japan wouln not be wy primary choice---though I do not doubt their capacity to realize this project.
I do hope that this will be a wake-up call for ESA and NASA to join forces with JAXA.
... I particlarly like the "(or catch)" part of your plan.
Errm, buddy, I hope somebody else is driving the car and somebody yet else is flying the plane while you hang out of the car window on the interstate, getting your fingers trimmed by a propeller.
I for one am the only one in my family (er, make that my entire social horizon) to not use Windows. So choosing a Linux-only option is a brave but somewhat lonely decision.
C'mon guys, Dvorak req's less finger movement (regardless of actual typing speed), and any true slashdotter should strive for less physical exercise - right?
Windows (even XP) only supports Dvorak for US -- if you require æøå then you need the Norwegian layout. You must hack/replace the "US Dvorak" DLL (1), or install a separate application and make your own layout (2).
The Dane Valdemar Poulsen (who also invented the telephone answering machine) came up with a "Method of, and apparatus for, effecting the storing up of speech or signals by magnetically influencing magnetisable bodies".
Also, a German engineer named Fritz Pfleumer in 1928 demonstrated a magnetic recorder of his own design which used paper tape coated with steel dust.
We don't have those promised 21st century-things *because* the brains that were to develop them got sidetracked while doing research - on the Internet!
If we kill the Internet I'm sure it won't be a decade before we have flying-car traffic jams all over downtown Luna Metro. Right?
That, combined with a history TREE instead of a linear, self-overwriting history (go back 3 pages and click another link -- those 3 pages will drop out of the history). That's what I wish for.
And for the troll/poster thinking this is for prn -- nope, it's for retrieving pages with 'unknown' URLs. Surfing page to page, one is likely to not read the URL or page title, but to recognize the page body.
There was a time when my brother and I spent 36hrs straight (that's right, no breaks whatsoever) playing "Continuum" on a Mac SE (with a b/w display). All 512 levels were played, and in the end it didn't really matter where I looked (or closed my eyes), I would see the exact same thing.
Man, not being able to close your eyes to something, being mentally 'trapped', is a powerful and sobering experience.
Well, that's a fine idea... so it's probably illegal (in the US). In fact, such a box would constitute a "circumvention device" wich is, as far as I have understood, exactly the thing you're not allowed to have. Bah.

I haven't seen any flash/SC stereos, but I know there are a couple of them that have a USB port. Haven't actually tried them, though.
Good luck.
... put it into space research!
Really Slick screen savers (Windows-only...gah.) The fireworks one is fun though, smoke and delayed crackles and what have you.

What is this "O.C." thing that everybody's going on and on about?

And here I thought
Nevertheless, thank you for pointing that out to me.
Check out http://mini-itx.com/ or http://g-b.dk/bin/view/Jan/MyComputer if you're really looking to build a pc that is small, power-lean, and "just fast enough" for "normal" use.
Now there's THREE of us! Yay for that.

It's just as much about comfort.

Yeah, that's *exactly* what I meant!
