Has any usenet provider ever been hit by the MPAA, RIAA or others? The one click download sites are easier then an automated index site but not by much. Since the days of free usenet is over and requiring payment to get the binary groups that would seem better than the megaupload/rapidshare/etc sites.
Of course the new administration "wants to look forward, not backwards" on all the dirty laundry of the previous administration. We were all warned about the military industrial complex by a sitting president, but we'll never see any charges against Cheney or others now. Obama is too busy covering his own ass, the game of politics isn't going to change.
Of course be careful talking about Cheney, he may shoot you in the face and then take a day to sober up before reporting it.
Scientific American just had an article about a theory that quantum effects would stop a Black Hole from actually forming, instead it'd be a Black Star. Interesting read, even if I'm not a cosmologist.

I saw the dollhouse DVD only episode and that was actually very good. It made the whole first season worth it. But I doubt it'll get past the bad filler episodes quick enough to allow the show to last.
You're right about Eureka - it's one of the few original shows made by Sci Fi that has lasted well. Fun hero saves the day type of geeky fun.
Go with your state Public Utilities Commission. In my ISP days any disputes I had that I took to the PUC would get resolved rather quickly. The FCC doesn't care, Verizon lobbies them far more than a user ever could.
IT doesn't have glory. If it did there would be porn made about it. Seriously, has anyone seen any porn where the story involves the IT guy restoring a vital email and then the jazz drumtrack starts? Or is it just that the plumbers, mechanics, poolboys and teachers have that gig tied up?
I recently wanted linux on a HP laptop. I tried the latest Ubuntu disk and it just didn't load. I decided to try Mandriva and things worked great. It was the first linux install that I didn't have to do any tweaking for video or wireless. I was pleasantly surprised.
Is it just me or was the recent high profile arrest of 3 terrorism suspects, along with a lot of media attention about heightened security at public transport and sporting events, an amazing coincidence in timing with the Patriot act renewal talks? I hate when tin foil hat conspiracy is no longer really far out there but seems like common thug tactics.
Funny enough I just read the story on CNN about the Mass sec of state releasing a taped phone call of Madoff telling colleagues how to avoid the SEC. No details there on how they got that audio tape. It'd be funny if it was illegally gathered.
Sounds like the vietnam era with deferrals if you were in college. Having a relative that went to college for 7 years during that time isn't too strange.
Does your Community college get some large local tax millages? That's what is rarely taken into account for any school - even the 4 year state institutes get state money here. CC's just get the local tax base to help foot the bill.
Are you sure you're not mistaking Wheel of Time with Lord of the Rings? Really the basic trilogy are pretty thin books considering what all gets accomplished. Now a Wheel of Time book can take 1000 pages to tell you one day's worth of events. Or a whole chapter to describe a dress.
Washington works best when they aren't working at all
I agree. Let's get a few more legal holidays thrown in for more 3 day weekends. Of course that may be tricky - ever notice that there aren't any federal holidays during August, the month when Washington is out on break?
Do you own a pair of shoes with a logo on it, perhaps a Nike swish? Heck even work boots leave Wolverine embedded in the dirt. Or do you own a shirt with a Polo emblem? Does your car have a logo on it? I'm paying for these products and I'd rather buy without any advertising but it's hard to find many things without a logo.
Musk also manages to take a long term view on a project. Being the first private individual to control a space fleet could make him the richest man in the world. Now there's vision.
I know you meant it as a joke but if you haven't read rainbow's end you should. The virtual overlays such as Pratchett's discworld were pretty demented.
It could be that like the ACLU warantless wiretapping case that was thrown out by the supreme court, it would require people that could prove they were actually spied upon. Of course just knowing you were spied upon would be a state secret so it's a chicken/egg sort of thing. Not sure if the Swiss have such a screwy legal system as the US but it wouldn't surprise me if it's a government covering its own ass.
Matters on the dating site. Most have fake female profiles that send you messages, requiring you to pay to simply read the damn thing. Nothing like the prospect of an 18 year old cheerleader to get a guy to whip out his credit card. I wish I was just being glib.
I wish we'd just switch and get it over with. Right now it's annoying to need SAE and Metric sizes to do almost anything. The frustration of going through the "Oh that nut isn't a 5/16th, maybe it's a 5/8th, oh no it's 16mm" is something that could be avoided easily. I worked in a hardware store for a few years, everytime someone needed a hand in the fastener aisle they all agreed it'd be easier if things were metric numbered. What's bigger than a 5? A 6 - imagine that!
At this point the EPA is run by the same body that owns a big chunk of GM shares. Not surprising they get a huge rating. Now where did I put that tinfoil hat...

Corporations are no different than Politics, it's not what you know but who you know.
of course the police could always fabricate the evidence for a warrant. Thankfully there are a few people around like Kopbusters nailing them on video for fictional evidence on a search warrant.

I didn't know you could fit videos or pictures in 140 characters. Did they use ascii art?

You can buy one for $39.99 right now. Of course you'll have to learn scottish to make some of the things work.

I am disappointed that www.steve.jobs doesn't resolve.
